YOURSAY 'PAS never learns. You made the same mistake in Terengganu in 2008 and you repeat it again in Kedah.'
'Kedah folk have had enough of Pakatan's nonsense'
Indian Prophet: PAS talked big without using tact, discretion, wisdom and understanding - some of their leaders were fanatic as though God was helping them when they did not realise that God was watching them.
Their loveless ways with the other races by being insensitive was exploited by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the devil.
Remember that Mahathir said just one day before the election to reject PAS, and now the devil has got his son as MB. But I am sure PAS won't learn their lessons.
In the future, they will still be living in a world of their own dreams while Umno will be screwing them left, right and centre. PAS, go and learn from DAP chief Karpal Singh that we are a secular state.
YF : PAS never learns. You made the same mistake in Terengganu in 2008 and you repeat that in Kedah.
Why talk about hudud when you can't even address the basic needs of the rakyat? Address their needs, have dialogue with others, before implementing anything.
That is how you win the rakyat's support, not like some overzealous religious zealot who forces the implementation of policies and religious edicts which are no different from a self-centred dictator.
Isn't that who we are fighting against? So why behave in the same manner?
Sali Tambap : Ironically I would agree with Ahmad Bashah. PAS' dismal governance in Kedah under Azizan's leadership jolted the Kedahans into realising that this was not what they really wanted.
Religious values no doubt are good, but ordinary folks would want some efficiency and prosperity too.
In this case, Azizan had disappointed both the Malays and the Chinese with the idiosyncrasies that seemed to characterise his administration. The big lesson learnt here is that Kedah is not Kelantan.
Kedahans have had a taste of Mahathir and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin's leadership; the people seem to know the pleasure of luxury and what it promises.
Religious thrift and worldly attraction is delicately balanced here in this state. Mahathir saw this and exploited it to the utmost advantage.
Lover Boy: PAS blew it, with Azizan as MB he is nowhere near Penang CM Lim Guan Eng or Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim. Let's hope this is a lesson well learned. Now we have that dimwit Mukhriz Mahathir as MB, let see what he can do for Kedah.
If he can outperform Azizan, which is not difficult, Kedah is as good as gone. It's high time PAS has a good look at the quality of their candidates.
Azizan may be excellent material to head the religious department, but he is not fit to look at the balance sheet of the state economy.
Louis: The writing was on the wall that PAS would lose Kedah. Its MB was pathetic. He was carried away by PAS' 2008 victory, thinking that he can depend only on Muslim votes to carry him through this GE.
He was not sensitive to the non-Muslims by curbing some of their cultural activities and so forth. As a result, PAS was shown the door. I hope it can learn its lesson.
Yangturk: It just shows that religious leaders should be the moral compass for ethics and integrity, but the business of administration and running a government should be left to the technocrats.
This is a good lesson for PAS. Azizan is incompetent to run Kedah. PAS leadership must be down to earth and focus on the fundamental of managing a state properly instead of talking about hudud.
What the rakyat want is to have the bread and butter taken cared of first. PAS also did not do well overall. It is time to do some soul searching.
AnonMsia: It is unfair to blame MB Azizan or PAS. I have observed that on all seats that Pakatan won in 2008 but lost in 2013, Pakatan has polled more votes, but BN polled much more.
This is accompanied by sudden increase in the number of voters, and is the case for all seats that I have checked so far. This is the modus operandi of cheating that was done in Sabah in 1994, and has been revealed in the royal commission of inquiry on immigrants.
The same method has been used in Terengganu in 2004, and also in Perak in this election, where marginal seats (which correspond to rural areas) have been won by BN in this manner. BN has used the National Registration Department (NRD) and Election Commission (EC) to plant phantom voters in these marginal constituencies.
BN tried to do the same thing in Penang and Selangor, but in these two states the people are more educated and have overwhelmingly rejected BN and therefore they could not succeed. Rural folk in Sabah, Terengganu, Kedah and Perak are easy to cheat.
1Malay-sia-sia : If PAS leaders only want to preach religion, then be ulamas and run the mosque, not the state government. Serves you right to lose Kedah. What a shame, what a disappointment you PAS lot.
Face it, PAS deserved to lose Kedah
