Serdang MP: MCA's turn to show transparency
Onyourtoes: When leaders of a political coalition have the mentality of a Third World chieftain, what can we expect from their followers? To them siphoning public money, practising double standards, and abusing power are second nature.
They have no qualms in doing such things, and they have no shame in repeating the acts a thousand times. So what else is new?
I would urge Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching to codify her transparency and accountability procedures and share it with all other Pakatan Rakyat-held constituencies.
MCA should be ashamed to see the sad state that Serdang and Sri Kembangan are in when compared with Putrajaya just next door. Of course, they can't see that this is the product of 50 years of Umno-BN politics.
Cocomomo: All BN and Pakatan representatives or coordinators or whatever they are called should account for all public money received (from taxpayers like me) and disbursed during the last five years.
Ghkok; In the first place, what is a ‘coordinator' who receives funds from the Prime Minister's Department? BN must have invented that concept.
As far as I know, a coordinator is a BN member (and not elected by the voters) who are given funds by the federal government to spend in a constituency that is won by Pakatan.
What legitimacy or credibility does this coordinator have? The rakyat have voted for their representative. In some constituencies, they have voted for Pakatan.
In such cases, the rakyat is saying that they want Pakatan to receive the funds so that they can be spent on programmes that are in line with the manifesto of Pakatan.
This is what the rakyat had voted for. This means BN is totally disrespecting the voice of the rakyat. In fact, this is worse than disrespect, it is almost like slapping the face of the voters.
This is like saying, "I don't care who you have voted for, the funds will still be channelled through BN."
These are federal funds, therefore the only solution for this situation is for our country is to replace the federal government.
Louis: A typical set of accounts for the BN coordinator goes like this: RM500,000 goes into the pocket; RM200,000 to the wife's pocket; RM100,000 to the mistress' pocket; RM200,000 to be divided among the cronies. Total: RM1 million...
Black Mamba: Pakatan MPs are transparent, but you don't expect the same from BN politicians as the accounts may not balance, and if they do you may see items such as trips with the whole family and the maid to Disneyland in the accounts.
They have a track record for such things. Just ask the previous Selangor menteri besar .
Black Panthar: Bravo Teo Nie Ching. All Pakatan reps should also disclose their spending over the last five years to their voters.
I don't expect the Umno-BN reps to do it because they themselves do not know how they have spent the money, whether it has gone to the rakyat or into their own pockets.
Kheng: "Previously if you are promised RM1,000, you may only get RM700 but now the cheque goes directly to the applicant," says Teo.
How true! I have spoken to friends who are members of school board of governors/Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who had lamented the same to me. Bravo, YB!
Abc_3390: Good job, Teo. It is not only a question of the MCA member challenging you, but it is a matter of why he only challenged you and has not challenged BN MPs, which is not right.
JomUbahUbah: All these corrupt MCA leaders would not dare do what DAP has done transparently, and they behave like mice and only pocket all the money for themselves.
Poor Citizen: MCA is an expert in silence. MCA was silenced in the May 13 movie ‘Tanda Putera' issue, the use of ‘Allah' in the Malay bible issue, the racist Perkasa issue, the Chinese independent schools issue, etc, etc.
Their only responses are "I was not born yet" or "Talam, Talam, Talam".
Ksn: MCA appears to be caught with its pants down. In a war, it is said that when one plans to attack, one should plan to withdraw too and not be surrounded, trapped and slaughtered. Is MCA man enough to take Neo's challenge?
Senior: Transparency and accountability? MCA does not know the meaning of these words.
Anon: I can still remember before GE12, almost all BN state representatives in the previous Selangor government finished their respective RM1 million allocation within the months of January and February before the March GE.
They were expecting fresh allocations for their new term. Unfortunately BN lost and they were embarrassed when their misuse of funds was revealed by the new Pakatan government.
Hello, listen here, don't spit into the air.
NuckinFuts: MCA stands for ‘May Curi Allocation'.
