Take BN's handouts, but thank the rakyat

YOURSAY ‘This is the rakyat’s money, not PM Najib Razak's or Umno-BN's. Take your money, but vote them out!’

Schools made to involve BN leaders in RM100 handout

your say Anonymous #19098644: These are the desperate acts of a desperate party abusing the separation of powers between the legislative and the administrative institutions of the country.

In any other country, this would be considered an unacceptable case of corruption and abuse of power. This is the very reason why the rakyat would want to vote this decadent Umno-led bunch out in the next election.

Kheng: This is not new. The last round in Penang, a former Gerakan state assemblyperson was asked to present the cash to the parents and he went on a rhetoric to sell BN and as a result, parents had to endure a two-hour wait before collecting the RM100, which anyway comes from taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

Quigonbond: Malaysian parents and students are having an early lesson in politics. It's okay to say BN is distributing the money.

But in the same breath, students should by now know to respond to those BN leaders that it is taxpayers' money - the students should be thanking the taxpayers, not Umno-BN. And when it comes to the elections, they should still vote Pakatan Rakyat.

Not Confused: Such a pathetic and lame action again by the bankrupt BN regime. I thought it was illegal to involve students in politics?

Children are not even allowed to participate in rallies. Such blatant hypocrisy on the part of a government that is really so desperate. This is good news for the opposition, though.

The BN drones don't really understand what a negative impact this has on the rakyat.

Anonymous_40dc: This is the rakyat’s money and not PM Najib Razak's or Umno-BN's. Take your money, but vote them out!

LiarsSlaughter: The handouts come from a bankrupted national coffer, where the deficit has risen from RM250 billion to RM500 billion within a short period of four years.

Anonymous_3ec6: This is cheap publicity at the taxpayers’ expense. They should give from their own pockets, as they have gotten huge kickbacks.

Smiley: When the Pakatan Penang government gave RM100 to the elderly, Umno cried "bribery". So if BN is so just and righteous, why are they all doing it also?

Slumdog: These are unashamed and deceitful vote-buying actions of a desperate and immoral government. The Education Ministry and Umno’s dirty tricks department think it is a smart strategy, but this is blatant electioneering.

Unfortunately, many will be duped and influenced to vote for Umno-BN. They can do this, but who is going to stop them?

LiarsSlaughter: One of my relatives had once said to me that she would give her vote to BN after collecting the goodies and cash from the government.

She only woke up after she got a scolding from me. I simply asked her, did she get any handouts in the past, when the opposition was weak?

I told her that, she could only get more handouts from the government now, when the opposition has become stronger. So, if she intends to get more handouts, she should vote for the opposition to make it stronger.

Don't Play-Play: As a parent, I would like to say thank you very much to the BN government for the aid. I would be very happy if the PM or the DPM himself handed out the cash aid. Thank you again, BN.

Mat Salleh: Sometimes I wonder what really is wrong with people like Don't Play Play, who can't seem to differentiate right from wrong.

Either they must have lost it, or (more realistically) they are up to their ears in Umno-BN contracts, that they don't have any choice - if Umno-BN loses (which they will), people like this commentator would end up without even their dirty underwear.

Madcow: My Form Four son got a shock on the first school day 2013. Last year, a plate of curry chicken rice was RM2.50, for three pieces of chicken and two pieces of potatoes. It now has gone  up to RM3.50 for the same serving.

After the students complained, it went down to RM3 albeit minus one piece of chicken. For those with a big appetite, additional rice costs 80 sen.

However, the headmaster said that nothing could be done, because it was well within the controlled price. So, how far can the RM100 handout go?

Paul Warren: Civil servants who are asked to do these things by their political superiors should be reminded that they will be made to answer for these uncivilised actions of theirs and this could result in their sacking or their public censure and demotion.

Cantabrigian: I received news that this whole idea of big spending by BN is a two-pronged project with long term objectives. It serves as a publicity stunt by BN to show that they are generous (in dishing out taxpayer's money), but at the same time emptying the government coffers as much as possible in case Pakatan Rakyat takes over after GE13.

With so much debt and low income, a Pakatan federal government would suffer in performing its duties and later, Umno-BN would pounce on them each time they screw up, and take back the throne of power in GE14.

Anonymous_4031: Is the RM100 to each student money from Umno, BN or is it from the taxpayers? If it is from Umno or BN, then the schools could use the photos an the banners of PM Najib Razak and Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

If the money is from the taxpayers, then use photographs of taxpayers, please! The Education Ministry has no right to use taxpayers' money to politicise BN's propaganda to get votes.

Be honest about whose money is being used for the students. Where is the efficient Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on this matter?

Apapunboleh: This is bribing the public with their own money.
