While admitting that 40 of its members were at the anti-Bersih protest in Merlimau yesterday, Malacca Perkasa said it never signalled them to unleash h NONE ell.

"We never issued orders to either damage cars or commit acts of destruction... We gathered peacefully and we appreciate peace," said its chief Abd Rahim Osman.

Indeed, the right wing Malay NGO has condemned the egging and pelting of two DAP assemblypersons and damage done to their cars as "criminal and injurious" behaviour.

Pro-government supporters staged a protest near a tea session for electoral reform pressure group Bersih co-chairperson S Ambiga and her supporters yesterday.

The protest escalated into violence, with eggs and stones thrown at those attending the Bersih event.

In the incident, DAP assemblypersons Khoo Poay Tiong of Ayer Keroh and Tey Kok Kiew of Bandar Hilir were pelted and egged as they left the function.

"I don't agree. If they want to protest, it is not like this. We are mature and things like this should not happen," Rahim said.

Tey, whose car had a window broken, suffered various knocks and dents and had a front tyre punctured as well, has lodged a police report over the matter.

Yesterday, Jasin Umno Youth denied that its members were the ones who wreaked havoc at the Bersih tea party that day.
