The Election Commission (EC) will change its official colour, yellow, for the next general election to disassociate itself from Bersih whose official colour is the same.

EC deputy chairperson Wan Ahmad Wan Omar made the announcement during a luncheon talk today, after being urged by a participant to do so.

NONE “We will choose a non-aligned colour. Bersih has put the nation in chaos with its yellow colour,” he said.

Later during a press conference, Wan Ahmad explained that the EC is appointed by the council of rulers hence yellow, the colour that represents the royalty, is a suitable corporate colour for it.

“But Bersih also chooses the colour yellow. The advice from the participant is good although it is a small matter.”

However, the EC will not share any colour used by political parties, he said.

“I will have to bring this matter back to the commission to be discussed further,” he added.

The three-hour talk entitled ‘Bersih 3.0: What else you want?’ was organised by Department of Special Affairs (Jasa) - an agency under the Information, Communication and Culture Ministry - and the Institue of Mind Development (Inmind) and attended by many Jasa officers.
