Pakatan must be better than squeaky clean

VOXPOP 'If these allegations are true, then PKR and PAS have to take firm disciplinary action against these two MBs.'

Revealed - RM600mil cause of Kedah PAS crisis

vox populi small thumbnail Anonimous Z: Kedah MB Azizan Abdul Razak cannot be acting alone. He is half blind, sickly with half his time either on medical leave or in hospital. What about his aides? His think-tank? His cronies? Who are they? They should be part of this plot.

Umno is definitely behind this, too. No wonder it has rarely attacked Kedah compared with other states under Pakatan Rakyat. No wonder Azizan implemented so many unpopular policies driving away Pakatan supporters. No wonder so many known Umno agents/retired senior servants were appointed to key posts in the GLCs.

However, there are complaints certain excos have been arm-twisting the developers and contractors. All these must be thoroughly investigated and brought to light.

Locals have alleged that in the first two years, both Azizan and Kedah PAS deputy commissioner I Phahrolrazi Mohd Nawawi were like newlywed couple. Now that the honeymoon over, more dirty linen is surfacing.

But don't judge a book by its cover. As such, don't trust the man who talks the most. The Kedahans know well it is PAS deputy commissioner II Dr Ismail Salleh who is the man with principle and honour, not Phahrolrazi.

Phahrolrazi is not what he claimed he is. Go Alor Setar and check with the locals, they will tell you he is an opportunist, who can talk a lot but never walk the talk.

Most Kedahans don't trust Phahrolrazi. As a matter of fact, they view him as no better than Azizan.

Blind Freddo: For God's sake, don't keep blaming Umno for everything. The problem is Malaysians.

And this is a perfectly-timed example to demonstrate that the alternative is no alternative at all, it's just more of the same.

Opah: Compare this to Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's cows and we can see the difference between Umno and PAS.

Shahrizat's cows: RM250 million gone, husband held press conferences to deny he broke the law, and yet no action from Umno leaders.

Kedah's highway: Two PAS excos resigned, forcing a crisis and re-examination of decision-making procedures. No money lost, and a return to good corporate governance.

This is what we can look forward to with a Pakatan government. The party members themselves will reject any form of Umno-style crony capitalism.

Pemerhati: Recent revelations by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin about Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim giving out hundreds of millions in negotiated contracts in the past few years, despite having denied such allegations, and now this RM600 million revelation about the Kedah MB, Azizan, put Pakatan in very bad light.

If these allegations are true, then PKR and PAS have to take firm disciplinary action against these two MBs, and it goes without saying that these two and their cohorts should not be allowed to stand in the coming elections.

Public uproar over cop who 'kicked' motorcyclist

MY Kee: Please stay calm and think rationally. The boy's parent was at fault for allowing his son to ride without a licence and helmet.

He then tried to avoid a road block. The police officers kicked his bike. If the bike was stopping or going slow, I don't think he would have sustained such a heavy injury.

Now, who was this Rela guy who ramped into him and ran away. He was the one who caused the injury, no?

Dappy: I also had a frightening experience at a police roadblock, which is always erected around the road corners.

I was driving my teenage son and three of his friends back to their homes one night when I misread the policeman's unclear signal. I thought he meant for me to drive on but all of a sudden he banged my car loudly to stop me.

The aggressiveness of the police personnel was terrifying. The police always act fierce with the innocent and helpless when it comes to the real lawbreakers.

T: It is unfortunate that this accident had happened. This teaches us the importance of safety (always wear a helmet and don't let minors use equipment that they are not suppose to use). And please obey the authorities when you are in the wrong instead of trying to run away.

What do you expect the police to do when someone tries to speed off on a motorbike at a roadblock? Sit down and clap?

Yes, one can argue that you see this all the time and in kampung, and what not. But that does not make the behaviour right.

And what do you expect the police to do? Set up road blocks and catch the culprits, right?

David Dass: The fact that the 14-year-old boy was not wearing a crash helmet was not a reason to treat him the way he was treated. That police officer should be charged and if found guilty should be dismissed from the force.

Police officers cannot take the law into their own hands. They are not above the law. Using force in a situation that does not justify violence is criminal in nature. There is no ambiguity here.

The sooner the police understand what the rule of law means the better for all of us. The police should be looking after the citizens. Not abusing them.

Baiyuensheng: I remember the case of 14-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah in 2010 where 21 shots were shoot at his car during a car chase that led to his death.

The police should not be resorting to this 'samseng' behaviour. They should carry out their job professionally. I really wish they can do the right thing and protect the rakyat.

CiViC: The investigations will show that the 14-year-old is an armed and dangerous cold-blooded murderer wanted in 20 countries and has 14 blades well-hidden in his motorcycle, a machine gun in his pants with grenades tied onto his body.

The police had no choice but to take such drastic action. Case closed.
