Outgoing solicitor-general II Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden has recommended to attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail that Anwar Ibrahim’s acquittal on the sodomy charge be appealed.

NONE According to TV3's Buletin Utama , Yusof said the decision was made after studying all evidence relating to the case.

The report said Yusof would make the recommendation to Gani soon, so that a notice of appeal could be filed.

He was also quoted as saying that the prosecution would ask Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah to expedite writing the grounds of judgment.

The prosecution has 14 days from the date of the verdict to appeal.

Anwar was on Monday acquitted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

When contacted this afternoon, Yusof confirmed he had recommended that the prosecution file an appeal.
