Don't belittle health issue with childish stunt

VOXPOP 'In other countries, Ameer should be drinking his chocolate milk in a prison cell if Tony Pua's lab reports can be verified by independent experts.'

Mydin boss poses 1M'sia choc milk dare to Pua

vox populi small thumbnail Nik V: This is hilarious. Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua should respond with the challenge that the children and grandchildren of Mydin Mohamed Holding Bhd's boss Ameer Ali Mydin and Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang drink the milk everyday over a period of one year before he donates RM10,000 to a charity of their choice.

Loy Kew Sing: Ameer Ali Mydin seems childish - if it is consumed only one time, how will it affect your health? Try consuming it for the rest of your life, and we'll salute you.

Fair Play: So, Tony Pua is getting Ameer hot under his collar? Why should Pua take up the challenge? He is a lawmaker. As an MP, it is his sworn duty to do what he is doing.

On the other hand, Ameer, you are a businessman. You think issuing a challenge and providing a monetary donation will really make the issue go away? We are talking about the potential health risk to the rakyat.

Why not be magnanimous? Donate at least RM1 million to the welfare of the rakyat without any string attached.

Tkc: All these petty challenges does not hide the fact that the reason why some of the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) products are cheaper as claimed is because they use less natural, inadequate or inferior ingredients to the extent that some of the additives can be mildly toxic for human consumption.

In most developed countries, Ameer should be drinking his chocolate milk in a prison cell if Tony Pua's lab reports can be verified by independent experts.

Makorang: I thought the customers are always right? Tony Pua is merely looking after the interest of the customers.

The Mydin boss should disprove Tony Pua's allegation. If it's really defamatory, then sue. Tak payahlah jadi budak-budak , challenge minum susu. Lawak betul!

Keepsmiling: Mydin has a RM40 million grant from the government to set up the 1Malaysia store. Sure you can donate RM10,000 - it's not even your money.

Why don't you give back the RM40 million? If your 1Malaysian store is so good, you don't need any subsidy from the government. No one will get into this business as it's very risky due to the strong competition from all the big players.

Rick Teo: Drinking contaminated milk once may not have any effect, but over a period there could be some damage. Pua should insist that the challenge should be over a period of one year with a daily dose of one mug. Then we should see how his face will turn yellow.

Wira : The Mydin boss misses the point. Drinking milk sold by him to prove that it is safe is not the point. Even if he drinks my urine he will not be harmed.

But is it safe and ethical to sell foodstuff that falls outside the safety and nutritional requirements dictated by the government?

Dmiri Mohd: I really couldn't believe this... I mean this is beyond stupidity. Stop acting like kids, please.

Dr M says Koh should quit as Gerakan head

Hibiscus: TDM (Dr Mahathir Mohamad) says, "I won every election with two-thirds majority and you cannot say that I had failed."

TDM must ask how he managed to win every election with two-thirds majority and what was the cost to the country. Elections used to be clean and fair. But TDM corrupted it. He heightened issues of race and religion to divide the people and gave the racists and religious bigots free rein.

He redrew the electoral boundaries thus reducing representations of urban voters. Money were used unashamedly to buy votes during his 22 years in power. Foreigners in Sabah were given citizenship to ensure the state remain under BN.

The ghost of May 13 was often brought up during elections to spook the voters. Lies were cooked up to bring down his political opponents. Judges were said to have been bought or threatened in order to fulfill his political purpose.

The general feeling is that TDM's methods have done untold damage to well-being of Malaysia. So he has nothing really to be proud of.

Lusiapa: Gerakan chief Koh Tsu Koon, why prolong your agony further? Is it that difficult to step down after all the humiliation, ridicule and condemnation hurled at you these past few months. To be called all sorts of names, some too shameful to repeat here, is simply unbelievable.

Malaysians are amazed at your level of tolerance and fortitude. Go now before the situation gets worse. Surely a person of your academic brilliance deserves something better.

Kleo: Mahathir said, "You cannot say that I had failed." Wrong, old man.

You destroyed the country's democratic foundations (depraved police force, corrupted courts, shackled media, lopsided civil service, culture of cronyism and religious extremism) and masked it with high-profile development mega projects.

The sorry state Malaysia is in now is due in part to your deliberate mismanagement.

JusticeKini: This a classic case of a ‘pot calling the kettle black'. Mahathir had monopolised the political scene for 22 years, which is a record.

During his tenure of office he has destroyed every semblance of justice and transparency in Malaysia.

Granted that Koh overstayed - he only destroyed his party, Gerakan, while Mahathir destroyed our country.
