PKR-linked NGO Jingga 13 has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the alleged abuse of a National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) loan to purchase a luxury condominium in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

Jingga 13, in a statement yesterday, said its secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad made the report.

NONE The move follows PKR’s allegations that funds from an NFC loan to sister company National Livestock and Meats Corporation (NLMC) had been used to purchase an RM9.8 million condominium unit at the prestigious One Menerung project.

The NGO said the information that it had collected “offers clear proof that a breach of trust has taken place”.

“In fact, it proves that the statements by the agriculture minister (Noh Omar) and Umno Youth chief (Khairy Jamaluddin) that the funds channelled by the government to NFC had been placed in a special loan account are untrue.

“The RM9.8 million that was diverted to the condominium purchase was transferred by NFC while at CIMB’s Taman Tun Dr Ismail branch, not from a special loan account,” said the group’s chief coordinator Fariz Musa.

NONE “Therefore, claims by the minister and the Umno Youth chief that every transaction requires the approval and strict monitoring of the government is also not true.”

Fariz, a former PKR Youth leader, said if the transactions were indeed monitored closely, a sum as large as RM9.8 million “would not have escaped scrutiny just like that... for a purpose completely unrelated to the livestock and cattle industry”.

The NFC has come under intense scrutiny recently since the Auditor-General’s Report 2010 described the organisation as being in “a mess”.

NFC is owned and managed by the family of Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil , who has since cried foul over recent exposes involving the agency.

NLMC, contracted by NFC as its marketing development agent and granted a sizeable loan, is also owned and operated by Shahrizat’s husband and children.
