'Investigations should also be carry out on the parang that police said was found in the car. This must not be conveniently forgotten.'
Cop gets five years for killing 15-year-old
FellowMalaysian: An innocent 15-year-old boy lost his life due to the negligence of the police force. The boy was shot, cold-bloodedly, from behind the halting vehicle.
Not just a single shot, but a hail of 21 bullets were fired. The car driven by Aminulrasyid Amzah was driven towards the direction of his residence and posed no danger to the police vehicles chasing him.
Yet, he was brutally gunned down. This despicable action speaks much about the uncontrolled and unbridled conduct of the men in blue who have been accorded duties to protect the public.
Yet, sly accusations were given by the then Selangor police chief that contradicted with the court's judgment. Five years is a far too lenient conviction.
With the many past and recent cases of the gun-touting police officers chasing down and shooting suspects mercilessly, it's high time the police force be called to answer for their grave offences and disreputable conduct.
Fairplayer: I would put the total responsibility on the shoulders of an incompetent government and police force. Our police officers are not well-educated or trained to the highest standard/degree where respect for fellow citizens/human beings are concerned.
Police tend to wear an arrogant mentality that they are the law and that they are above the law - that's the biggest blunder of our police force and police academy.
The police must know their job is to protect the people, while they must also have a good sense of discernment as to who to protect. They are not trained well where protecting the innocent rakyat is concerned. It is a sad state of affair in Malaysia.
The rakyat feel very unsafe with the men in blue in general, unless they happen to be our friends or family members.
Lim Chong Leong: Only one person is convicted when tens of bullets were fired? Only one man could have fired so many shots in the 500-metre chase?
Who put the parang there? How could the police have fired on the boy based on the parang, if it was only later found in the car?
Jeremy Ng: The five years' jail sentence is a joke. With so many irresponsible actions by the police, such a light punishment is no deterrent at all.
It is a slap to the late boy's family and his soul. The maximum sentence should have been meted out.
Investigations should also be carry out on the parang that police said was found in the car. This must not be conveniently forgotten.
Enforcement agencies that frame the public are worse than criminals.
Gunner: I just don't believe this, five-year jail is too lenient. On top of that, the senior police officer who lied about the parang found in Aminulrasyid's car is now the deputy IGP (inspector-general of police).
Tbala: All the while, the cops had lied in many shooting incidences by claiming the victim to be carrying 'parang', 'guns', etc.
They often got away but this time they got caught. The truth is out. Now deputy IGP Khalid Abu Bakar needs to answer for the attempted cover-up. Charge Khalid for allegedly making a false accusation.
Mamakputra's Stooge: So where is the public apology from then Selangor CPO Khalid Abu Bakar for his false statement?
Khalid Md Noor: As a Malay, I sometimes feel embarrassed that this case had received so much attention while A Kugan, who also died unnecessarily, had been forgotten. Even the politicians had focused all their energy on this case and also the Teoh Beng Hock case.
We talk about being multiracial but in the end, we only take care of our own kind. The weak and the underprivileged will be always be neglected.
Keturunan Malaysia: We won't say we are not happy with the cure but what about the prevention?
And still on the same line, why must there be a big enough hue and cry from the rakyat before we get some semblance of justice.
Family insists Aminulrasyid's name be cleared
Cocomomo: The CPO (chief police officer) who made said the kid was a criminal should apologise. The government should also adequately compensate the family - though no amount can really compensate for a life terminated prematurely, unnecessarily and recklessly.
Dark Archon: Somehow, I think this is just the beginning. Someone out there will make sure the Court of Appeal will reverse yesterday's ruling just to protect the PDRM's (Royal Malaysian Police's) "good name". No prize for guessing who that "someone" is here.
Anonymous_5fb: It is only fair for the deceased Aminulrasyid to be cleared of being branded a criminal and a robber, no ifs, no buts.
It is wrong for the police to brand him as such before trial, as no one is guilty until proven otherwise.
Let's this be a lesson to all parties that all lives are equally precious, and should be treated with respect.
