your say 'Look at the MyKad numbers. Only one digit is different in all three cases. This points to organised fraud, not error.'

'Clone' voters are Umno members, discovers PAS

Hello: Election Commission chairperson Abdul Aziz Yusof cannot explain in simple language the issues of double registration of voters.

If his system is not full proof, then he should listen to Bersih and adopt some of their suggestions. To straighten out the mistakes (or is it purposely done?) is very easy.

But the EC keeps denying that it cannot be done or they don't have the power. And now we find that some of the double registration of voters are Umno members. In any other country, the EC chief would be thrown out, if not charged with treason.

Tuah PJ: Quote: "Some voters may have registered twice because their MyKad numbers were not correctly keyed in during their first registration. So they registered again when they found out their name did not appear in the electoral roll, resulting in the double identity."

I thought the system was linked up to NRD's (National Registration Department). So if the data entered is wrong, the system should not have accepted it.

Anonymous_3da6: The computer system in the first place shouldn't have allowed this to happen. This shows either the system design is weak or EC/NRD allows such entries.

This type of problem should be detected at the data entry stage and flagged as an error for investigation before the data can be accepted.

EC needs a computer audit on its database to convince the rakyat that the electoral roll is clean and proper. Anything less is not acceptable.

AntiRacial: Abdul Aziz, I hope you can understand simple and plain English. Whatever the reasons for the double identity in the EC system, the rakyat no longer accept your side of story.

Why is EC still objecting to the suggestion to use inedible ink in coming GE? This objection clearly shows the errors are purposely created to help BN victory in the next GE.

By Election Fan: Abdul Aziz, all the reasons given for mistakes brought up by Pakatan Rakyat are either human error or technical error. As the EC chief, you should be fired for your incompetence.

DontPlayGod: The EC chief is simply talking nonsense. Either he is computer-illiterate or he thinks he can treat us like five-year-old kids.

Is the software for the EC system written by some half-past six engineer? Are we to understand that a national organisation as important as the EC cannot get someone to write a proper software programme for their system? Good God, what is this country coming to?

Ben Hor: If Malaysiakini , a mere news website, can uncover these clone voters, imagine what we will uncover if we send in experts and start probing every single detail within the EC and NRD systems.

Shame on you, Abdul Aziz, for saying this is a human error. All the more reason that you need Bersih 2.0's help.

Let me guess, your next step is to ‘investigate' the matter? We all have hear that before. We want to see action now.

Kgen: Every new revelation is dismissed as 'mistake' or 'technical glitch' by EC and NRD. Stop the wayang !

Look at the MyKad numbers. Only one digit is different in all three cases. This points to organised fraud, not error.

The indelible ink can stop these people voting twice, but not the biometric system. No wonder, the EC hates the indelible ink and loves the biometric system. This is the real reason why EC has refused to use indelible ink.

Malaysians must pressure EC in the strongest possible terms to use the indelible ink or the opposition should boycott the election.

Isana: That is why EC ‘pertahan mati-mati' (defend strenuously) not to use indelible ink. The biometric system will not be able to detect, or it can be programmed, to allow abuses like this.

The indelible ink is cheap and effective - double or triple voting can be immediately eliminated. But EC knows with the usage of indelible ink, its master Umno-BN will lose Putrajaya.

Ian2003: EC, just use indelible ink and there will be no more questions about the electoral roll. Please do not give any more excuses.

Pakatan invites PR-turned-voters to come forward

Danny Lazaroo: It makes sense to get these voters to come forward, but (PKR vice-president) Nurul Izzah, you are not in a position to promise them anything regarding their citizenship status. This is something that can only be promised by the home minister.

The individuals who have been granted citizenship in exchange for votes are likely to be individuals who would desire for the status quo of vote-rigging to continue, for if it is determined that they had procured residency or even citizenship through irregular means, it could be revoked - this fear and insecurity will almost certainly prevent them from stepping forward.

Which, of course, is part of the brilliance of this particular way of rigging the elections. Either way, we must go after the perpetrators here, not the victims. Should we get evidence from the victims, that would make things easier though.

Nicc: What guarantees can Pakatan give? You are asking these people to expose themselves. Pakatan can't even protect the rights of Christians and their place of worship, you want these ‘clones' to come out?

Kgen: It is very strange that these new citizens register themselves to vote immediately after they got their citizenship. This clearly points to selling citizenship for votes.

Pakatan does have some negotiating power. They can assure that those who come forward now will be given amnesty, while those who don't will be stripped of their illegal citizenship if Pakatan comes to power.

It only takes a few to come forward to prove the case against EC/NRD. Then Pakatan can go to town and tell the Malays they will be the biggest losers from these instant bumiputeras who will compete with them. The only way to correct the situation is to vote out BN.
