Police do not discount the possibility of taking action against PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu for making a false claim that a police vehicle had hit the motorcycle he was riding.

NONE Federal Public Order and Internal Security Department director Salleh Rashid (left) , said today there was no truth to the claim of a police Land Rover hitting Mohamad's motorcycle.

“In fact, CCTV recordings show him falling after his vehicle hit a divider and he fell on a pavement,” Salleh said.

The video shows a Land Rover chasing two motorcycles, one on which Mat Sabu was riding pillion.

It only shows the motorcyclist and pillion rider falling down on a pavement. There were two other Proton Waja police cars at the back of the four-wheel drive vehicle.

However, it is not clear from the footage that his motorcycle was hit by the four-wheel drive vehicle.

“According to our investigations, Mat Sabu suffered a flesh wound and was given outpatient treatment.

"I do not know why he needs to be in a wheelchair. We do not discount the possibility of taking action against Mat Sabu,” Salleh said.

Salleh said police chased after on Mat Sabu from the Mandarin Court Hotel on Jalan Maharajalela and into the city centre.

“Mat Sabu tried to enter into the Mahameru Highway, but there was a road block there, causing him to turn into Jalan Persiaran Persekutuan. It was there that Mat Sabu alleged a police vehicle rammed into him.

“However, evidence gained from the CCTV recordings shows otherwise,” Salleh said.

In an immediate response, Mat Sabu said he did not want to comment further on the matter but would take the police to court.
