Cheating Felda settlers: So much for Malay rights

vox populi small thumbnail 'I was under the distinct impression that Umno was the champion of the Malays. Are not Felda settlers all Malays?'

And now, Jengka settlers hit Felda with fraud suit

Joker: By under-declaring, Felda ends up with lots of palm oil proceeds unaccounted for.

So not only did the settlers lose out, but the government also lost out in the form of income taxes, be it corporate (from Felda) or individual (from the settlers and those who benefited from selling the undeclared palm oil). This is a good way to siphon public money.

Ong Guan Sin: No matter how hard the Umno-BN government tries to refute it, the mounting number of lawsuits from Felda settlers themselves only proves that Felda has been bullying and cheating its participants, rather than the very novel purpose of uplifting them economically. Pakatan's Buku Jingga finds further supporting evidence of its promise to disband Felda.

Baiyuensheng: Where has all the money gone to? The palm oil industry has been doing well for the past few years, judging by the palm oil prices. Yet Felda had to borrowed twice from EPF? What mandate does EPF have in dispensing our money like that?

Ksn: All the filth that has been hidden from the innocent settlers and all the other filth in all other areas of the Umno government are coming out, one by one. I was under the distinct impression that Umno was the champion of the Malays to take care of all their interests and future. Are not Felda settlers all Malays?

4EverMalaysian: Felda seems to be the greatest capitalist in Malaysia, getting tonnes of money at the expense of the poor settlers for so many years.

Thank God, settlers are now getting more informed and wiser after being gradually taught by PAS and Pakatan Rakyat activists. Let the more informed settlers spread the good news to all other settlers to get what is rightfully theirs, finally.

That is their right, don't cheat them. One day, they will find out anyway.

Makorang: A Prophet Muhammad hadith says, "Timbang dan lebihkan timbangan kamu" (Weigh and then add to what you have weighed).

It warns of a river in Hell for people who cheat; when they weigh or measure something for sale, they remove some of it afterwards, or when they weigh something to buy, they add to what they have weighed to profit from it.

NX: The settlers are talking nonsense. The mills extraction rate is 19% to 20% and the settlers are saying that they are sending fruits with 27% extraction. What a joke. Where does Felda hide the extra oil? It doesn't add up.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: "Harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi". These cases are just the tip of the iceberg of how rotten the various authorities are in Malaysia.

We expect the government to take care of the rakyat's money, billions are squandered as reported in the AG's reports every year. Despite that, not a single action has been taken. We expect the police to protect the rakyat, but the police only protect BN. We expect the cabinet to defend the rights of the rakyat, they defend the rights of the corporate bodies instead.

They sign contracts with the IPPs, PLUS, Metramac and all the tolls operators to milk the rakyat of their hard-earned income. To add insult to the injury, they classify all these agreements under OSA. It makes me wonder how national security can be compromised by the revelations of these contracts?

Densemy Chikadee: One has to wonder why it is that Felda settlers won't believe any of the tales of BN's devious ways. Someone must be telling them a different story. I wonder who that could be?

By the way, it's interesting to note that Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah has enough free time from his onerous parliamentary duties to take on the role of lead counsel.

Anonymous_4056: Felda settlers and other Malays in this country, now you know the stink of the Umno government. They have put a well-known corrupted leader to head Felda and I honestly feel sorry for those innocent, poor and over-exploited settlers.

Silencer: All these years, the Felda settlers have been cheated - but the irony is these settlers still give their votes to BN. What a shame.

Agong orders Penang mosque panel polls put off

Josephine: If the current committee members have been doing their job and serving the people well, why would they worry about free election? I am puzzled as to why the Agong got himself involved in this.

Anonymous_5fb: Is that what Yang di-Pertuan Agong is for? He is supposed to be 'apolitical'. Why drag him in? All parties should keep mosques out of politics. No?

Ghkok: It's obvious to me that DAP is not "interfering" in Muslim affairs. After all, state exco in charge of Islamic religious affairs Abdul Malik Abul Kassim is from PKR. I think he is handling it very well.

People Freedom: So this proof very clear that all masjid in Malaysia are not preaching according to religion but influence by current political leaders. I think the best is to go back to the holy book and see what it says on this issue.

If current practice does not follow the teaching of the holy book (the Quran), then how can the truth be preached to followers truthfully? How can Islam be practiced as 'Islam or All'? Ex-Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, please comment on this matter.

Minahkerang: Umno is too scared to have a democratic election of mosque leaders, because there is no Election Commission or PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) to help them out in this area. So, instead they have to run to the Istana.

People Power: It is quite sad that the YDP Agong is dragged into this issue. I do believe that the YDP Agong is apolitical. Just because some Umno-aligned NGOs make noise, we the Muslims in general has to forgo a democratically-elected mosque committee.

We would love to hear from the YDP Agong his reasons for putting off the mosque polls. Daulat Tuanku.

Quigonbond: If the Umno government decided to hold mosque elections, would the Agong say no?

Cyber-attacks: Most hackers are local, says minister

Pandoran: Wow, we have such talented fellows in Malaysia, and very likely all were top scorers. I bet none of them ever got government scholarships regardless of how many As they packed in their exams.

Onyourtoes: We have to ask why government websites are so easily attacked - is it because the government depends too much of nincompoop consultants to design and build the websites?

By the way, during the Sarawak election, who was actually behind the attack of Malaysiakini ? You see, those living in glass houses should not throw stones.

Petestop: A typical BN response to anything; give a warning as if they actually have the upper hand, when in reality they are rather impotent in dealing with this issue. You can fool the kampung folks maybe, but you not going to fool the Internet-savvy generation.

Tkc: Conspiracy theory: are these attacks for real or is this another variation of the ‘siege strategy' to act as a precursor to a bigger agenda?
