Home Minister, isn't Ibrahim Ali above the law?

your say 'How can Hisham say nobody is above the law when everybody knows that Umno-backed Ibrahim Ali is above the law?'

Face the upshot if you rally, Hisham warns KJ

Sulaiman: This is just a sandiwara . It is all Umno's doing. From now on, if the opposition plans to have a rally, Perkasa, Umno or Umno-aligned NGOs will plan to have a rally on the same day to disrupt everything.

Therefore, Bersih please soldier on and do not give in to the scare tactics employed by Umno.

Ferdtan: It looks like we are watching a primary school concert - the acting is amateurish and before the play ends, we know the plot.

Khairy Jamaluddin got scolded, and then in the 'interest of peace' he pulled Umno Youth out of the counter-rally. Then the police will hit Bersih 2.0 hard. The mainstream media will come out in a blitz to portray Bersih as 'unlawful' and 'troublemakers' out to cause chaos.

Praises will be heaped on Umno Youth for their 'patriotism'.

Kgen: How can Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein say nobody can be above the law when everybody knows that Umno-backed Ibrahim Ali is above the law?

Terus: Everybody should be rationale. While it is the right of every citizen to assemble peacefully, most Malaysians are just too busy ‘cari makan' to be involved or for that matter most of us love peace too much to risk such rallies that can easily turn ugly. There are many other ways to make a point.

M'siaKiniFan: Khairy, please proceed with the rally. We shall meet you there. Whether you are with Bersih or not doesn't matter - the bigger the crowd the better.

Opaque: Hisham, if calling for a rally is against the law, then shouldn't the first person to be arrested be PM Najib Razak for leading the 'One Million Youth' rally to defend Putrajaya?

Khairy rebuffs ex-boss, July 9 march to continue

Proarte: Khairy is a thorn in the Mahathir faction of Umno. Najib likes to see himself as neutral but he is beholden to the Mahathirists who can bring him down anytime with their clout in Umno and the stolen billions which they have at their disposal.

If Khairy is trying to carve a niche for himself in Umno as a 'progressive', then I would support him. In fact, Umno Youth may be 'protecting' Bersih by taking part in the rally, albeit with diametrically opposed agendas.

But his apparent thumbing his nose at Hishammuddin and declaring that it is the rakyat's constitutional right to hold peaceful rallies should be lauded and given tentative support. The notion of the right to peaceful assembly, if accepted by the police, would set a healthy precedent.

The Mahathirists will be quaking in their boots if the rally goes ahead, and we will have Khairy to thank. We need the numbers - it does not matter whether Umno or Bersih.

Anonymous_ABG: A peaceful rally is going to turn into a free for all fist-fighting and this is not good for the country. Umno Youth, which is part of the government, should know better the consequences and the damage that would cause our nation.

This country doesn't alone belong to Khairy and his buddies. The poisonous snake is Ibrahim Ali and he should be disciplined. He is the troublemaker. I hope the police will take firm action, and do it fairly.

Pakman: KJ, I hope this not another wayang rerun of the ‘Operation Lalang'. Is this your strategy to divert attention from Bersih 2.0?

Your main aim is not to allow opposition to monopolise this would-be historic event but to ‘topang sekaki' (share one leg) and be part of this great moment. This will elevate the image of Umno Youth, which had been hijacked by Perkasa.

Yes, we will support you if your intention is to support the right of the rakyat to voice their view in a free and democratic country. Let see whether you walk the talk.

Onyourtoes: KJ, no one denies your right to organise a rally and to march. My question to you is why must you choose the same date and time when you know your rally will be in direct contrast to Bersih?

Have you got any initiative of your own? If Bersih moves the rally to another date and let you have July 9, would you be satisfied? Your intention is evil and was never about the right to assembly as guaranteed under the constitution.

I know the strategy, KJ. You see, KJ, when push comes to shove, your predecessor just might to put you under house arrest or send you overseas (like former MCA leader Lee Kim Sai remember? But then may be at that time you were still playing marbles) while the rest in Bersih and Pakatan Rakyat can all rot in Kamunting.

Anonymous123: Since the police mention that they are going to make preventive arrests, can they show the public they are really independent by arresting Khairy now?

Mr KJ John: "This is a new Malaysia. We have a right to assembly, guaranteed by the constitution. Umno Youth will be marching on July 9. And that's that," said Khairy.

I like it KJ!
