S'gor Pakatan in danger: Mat Sabu's right on target

Mat Sabu: Pakatan may not retain S'gor in next GE

your say Lover Boy: Malays won't sell away the country, but BN/Umno will, through issuance of ICs to permanent residents to have them vote for them. This Bersih 2.0 rally has to be a strong rallying point for all Malaysian to say NO to BN, and NO to corruption.

Jiminy Qrikert: Malays will not sell out. Neither will the Indians. The Chinese definitely will not. Not in Selangor. Not after the price increases in essential food items across board that the rakyat will suffer. MCA will finally be totally crushed in Selangor. MIC will win nothing. Only Umno stands any chance but even then, Selangor Malays are now more aware of how Umno is ruining our country. Bersih 2.0 will be huge.

Cala: Judging from Mohamad Sabu's exhortation, it is obvious that he is asking PAS members to be mindful of the dirty tricks of Umno, as the latter may plant voters friendly to them in the coming general election.

Ferdtan: The timing to have a grassroots leader like Mat Sabu elected to a high post as deputy president of PAS is God-sent. He has gone round the country, including Selangor, to give many ceramah sessions; and he must have sensed something amiss in the preparation to defend Pakatan Rakyat's Selangor in the coming general election.

We need to 'kick the butt' of the Selangor government to wake them up. Stop dreaming of your past glory and start working. It is true that they have slackened and are getting lazy. The warning by Mat Sabu is the coming general election will be the dirtiest election ever. Umno's war cry 'win-at-all-cost' shows the intensity of the battle ahead. Anwar Ibrahim is working round the clock, giving ceramah sessions around the country. Penang under Lim Guan Eng is much under control. Kelantan is a fortress. Now, as for Selangor under MB Khalid Ibrahim - you've been warned.

Sarawakian_3ff9: The Bersih rally will be Mat Sabu's first test on his leadership ability from his party members as well as the rakyat. I think he'll do well on both counts. PM Najib Abdul Razak and Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein will do their utmost to sabotage the rally for sure, because it's going to be a wake-up call to the Malays as well.

L Joy: Trust this guy, Mat Sabu. He is a strategist, a street fighter par excellence of the same grit as Anwar Ibrahim. What he says must be taken seriously. He has the pulse of not just the nation but what mafia Umno would be up to pending GE13. Let us not give Umno an easy way. Do not dissolve state assemblies where Pakatan has its government. Save the resources to fight for new states in GE13. And more importantly, PAS must use all its resources available to support the Bersih rally, come what may.

Fight for a welfare state for the people, not just members and the top management of party. People are more important than religious ideology. I am so proud of Hadi Awang for making it clear what PAS priorities would be.

Poppyie: It's still not too late to congratulate ‘Bang Mat' Sabu for the tough but clean fight for winning the esteemed deputy-presidency of PAS. Analysing his maiden speech as deputy president, Bang Mat is certainly a tactical leader and surely a strategist, too, by any measure. Knowing best the die-hard and incorrigible PAS comrades in Kelantan, Bang Mat feels safe to label the state as Pakatan's fortress.

Similarly for Penang, Bang Mat has every reason to believe that the state is safe under the good hands of Guan Eng of DAP.

But for Selangor with PKR as the anchor leader, Bang Mat is very mindful.

Voice: How well can you protect all the constituencies that you have won in last general election? You can't take anything for granted. We must prepare for the worst and assume that a few constituencies may possibly fall into BN's hands. So, how are you going to remedy this setback? To remedy this is to capture the places that were won by BN in the last GE. Have you planned for this capture? Has Pakatan sat down and planned for all this? Mat Sabu's alert came at the right time.

Nik V: I would strongly suggest that the good leaders of PAS encourage their youth to spread the good word to doubters, one person at a time, whether it is via Internet or in conversation. I have seen many non-Malays just chatting with their friends over the pros and cons of voting correctly and responsibly. And in those conversations, I have seen fence-sitters or non-voters decide that the right thing to do is to vote for an honest and new ‘people's government', one that is for the people and not like the current BN government, which refuses to change for its people.

Loyal Malaysian: Get the Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim to explain the controversies over the TOL issues in Sungei Buloh and Kuala Kubu Baru. Yes, those are common occurrences under the Umnoputras, but you folks have to remember that you all represent the public face of the Pakatan. If PKR can't justify these land grabs, yes, you can forget about retaining Selangor.

Muftis who don't condemn sex video 'worse than Satan'

Righteous: There are two types of muftis: 1] Mufti Agama (religious muftis) and 2] Mufti Upahan (muftis for hire). Most, if not all are of the second category. If you don't toe Umno's line, you end up like the former learned mufti of Perlis, Mohd Asri Zainal Abidin. The office of mufti becomes a tradable commodity based on a willing buyer-willing seller basis.

Cari makan: Maybe the muftis are not pro-Umno. But because of "cari makan" (considerations), they dare not voice out their disagreement. In that case, the mufti's post is just a cari makan job for them, not the religious responsibility that it should be.

Garang2: When the learned mufti of this country play two fiddle with the government of the day, then it means that it spells disaster for Islam in this country. These learned people should fear nobody, except Allah.
