'Create a tense situation. Declare martial law. Arrest all opposition leaders under ISA to ‘protect' them. Rule as dictator forever. That's the agenda.'
Archbishop slams 'irresponsible' reporting
Dhammika: Utusan Malaysia's report of Christians attempting to turn a constitutionally Muslim country into a Christian country has to be investigated and action must be taken to throw those responsible into jail under ISA.
Too many incidences of incitement has gone by without action. PM Najib Razak must be held accountable for these insidious reports which incite religious conflict.
BN, especially Umno, is condoning such religious and racial utterances. This is indeed an awakening to all whose refuge is in BN. MCA and Gerakan, what action will you take on this issue?
A Disgusted Malaysian: It has been so clear to all non-Umno Malaysians that Umno, desperate about the prospects of a colossal defeat in the next general elections (despite Umno's usual blatant cheating come election time in the form of vote-buying, intimidation and eleventh-hour bonanzas such as sudden road-building, installation of street lighting, etc, which voters waited umpteen years in vain for), has opened the floodgates to unleash all of Umno's demons, chief amongst which has been Utusan to create utter havoc in the country with lies and devious actions (all of which are then blamed on non-Muslims), in the hope of creating an environment in which Umno may jump at describing as "national unrest" - all in order to slam on emergency rule, thereby clinging on to power by bypassing a general election.
Yap Chee Seng: Create a tense situation. Declare martial law. Arrest all opposition leaders under ISA to 'protect' them. Rule as dictator forever. That's the agenda.
Anonymous_3e06: I thank Archbishop Murphy Pakiam for speaking on behalf of the church. He spoke with courage and sincerity. I am proud of the archbishop.
There are lessons to be learnt from him. He is not playing politics, nor is he into power. He is talking about how can we live in peace and harmony and with goodwill among all people. He is not talking about whether the world is Muslim or Christian.
The archbishop spoke as a man of God and I am sure there are men of God among Muslims. I would like to hear their voices too. I am sure the God of the Christians and the God of Muslims are Gods of peace and love.
Disbeliever: Simply put, Utusan and other irresponsible organisations are fanning racial sentiments and making wild allegations. It is mischievous to claim that 'Malaysia is a Christian country?'
Personally, I've been a victim of a malicious posting on the ‘Mahazalim' website in 1999. I was accused of being an ex-priest, a student counsellor who was spreading Christianity among Malays students. I was never given a hearing despite my strong denial. Instead, I was given a 24-hour transfer on the excuse of my service was needed in the new place I was posted to.
Is this the Islam that I read about - a religion of tolerance which is being distorted by irresponsible people all for their own interest? Sad but true, these followers of Islam are sending out the wrong message about their religion.
Lakia: I hope and pray that our Muslim friends will be blessed for knowing that it is Umno/BN that is playing this dangerous game out of its desperation to win the votes of our Muslim brothers and sisters in the coming 13th general election. It's really good to know that our Muslim brothers and sisters in PAS and PKR take a stand against this Umno game of playing with fire.
Islam is a religion that encourages love, kindness, care and justice for all. In fact, the Christians in rural Sarawak have a lot to learn from our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kelantan who, despite attempts to buy their votes during the elections, they voted based on their religious principles and reject Umno/BN.
David Dass: PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan cannot play it both ways. He cannot speak from both sides of his mouth at the same time. The Utusan report was either false or true. If a group of Christian pastors did in fact attend a meeting in a hotel in Penang to plot the setting up of a Christian state in Malaysia with a Christian prime minister than that is a serious matter indeed, and the government should quietly handle it.
But if it is patent nonsense to accept such an allegation as being even remotely credible, Nasrudin should just reject it with nothing more said. To go on and say that this kind of thing occurs only because Umno has not done enough for Islam is to stoke the flames.
So many individuals and groups with their own agenda will milk a lie for as much mileage as possible. But seriously, does something like this merit so much fuss and blather? Will the majority of Muslims in the country waste time over this?
Quigonbond: I'm not sure whether Nasrudin's stand is a good one. Saying that Umno has failed to defend Islam is a good political angle for PAS to use, but it also makes Umno more hardened and extreme.
On the other hand, PAS could just have easily said that Islam is never under threat simply because the majority population of this country are Muslims, and various tenets of Islam has already seeped into public administration as well as commerce and therefore Islam is already entrenched.
PAS should be careful not to up the "I'm more Islamic than thou" stance, which can only cause Umno to take a more extreme Islamic position. Voters will blame not just Umno but PAS as well if we slide down this dangerous path.
Patriot: BN/Umno strategy is simple:
Step 1: Form Perkasa, Pembela, etc, and outsource its racism to them.
Step 2: Apco, the PR firm, advised Najib to promote 1Malaysia.
Step 3: Form 1Malaysia NGO since MCA, Gerakan, MIC, SUPP, PPP are all political eunuchs in Umno's harem.
Step 4: Perkasa ropes in Rela to be the ‘para-military' arm of Umno.
Step 5: Create religious and racial issues as a smokescreen.
Step 6: Harass Anwar Ibrahim who is the glue that keeps PAS and DAP together with Sodomy II and the sex video.
Final step: Call GE13.
After elections, if BN wins big, there will be celebration. If BN loses, Perkasa and Rela will create a situation for the police to call a state of emergency. Parliament is suspended. Welcome to Malaysia.
