PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim went on the defensive today when queried about the sex video purported to be of him and a young woman.

NONE Asked about the Omega watch, which the trio who aired the video claimed Anwar had left in the hotel room after his purported dalliance, he lost his cool.

"What has the Omega watch got to do with anything? Has anything been established?

"Why should I answer you? Do you dare ask (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak) about his connection to (deceased Mongolian translator) Altantuya (Shaaribuu)?

"I know that your question is meant to help Utusan ( Malaysia ) to report that Anwar failed to answer," he said to a question by a broadcast reporter in Kuching today.

Despite being lectured on media bias, the reporter pressed on to ask when he would produce an alibi or explain where he was on the night the video was said to have been recorded.

“Azizah has answered. Why should I answer? Then you will ask which hotel, have I been to the hotel,” he said in reference to his wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“Have the police asked for the Omega watch? Let them ask," he said, obviously agitated.

'Why not RCI on Sarawak?'

Anwar then said that "some people are only interested in pornography" when the issue is imbalance development in Sarawak.

NONE “They want to have a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI, on the sex video) - I say that they should have an RCI on Sarawak," he said.

Those present at the press conference applauded when a local reporter tried to defuse the verbal altercation by saying: "Since (Anwar) is in Sarawak, let's talk about Sarawak."

The sex video has been alleged by Pakatan Rakyat to have been released in time for the Sarawak polls, but has not figured greatly in the BN campaign so far.

Anwar has vehemently denied that the man in the video is him.

This is the PKR leader's first trip to Kuching since the campaign kicked off on Apr 6.

He has spent much of his time in the rural and semi-rural areas of the vast state.
