Pop diva Lady Gaga has urged her Malaysian fans to protest the censorship of lyrics on her hit song that encourage acceptance of gays, among others.

According to the Associated Press , Lady Gaga said that Malaysians who want to hear her song in full on the radio "must do everything that you can if you want to be liberated by your society."

NONE Lady Gaga’s criticism against the move was made during a visit to internet search giant Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California today.

Last week, AP had reported that Malaysia is playing an edited version of her hit single “Born This Way”.

Garble is used to replace the lyrics: “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track, baby.”

In an earlier AP report, AMP Radio Networks said that the censorship was necessary because of government restrictions.

The company, which runs Malaysia’s top radio stations including hitz.fm , said there was concern that the song might violate “good taste or decency or (are) offensive to public feeling.”

Broadcasters face fines of up to RM50,000 and other penalties for breaking broadcasting rules.

On a Twitter post on March 10, Lady Gaga explained that “Born This Way” intended message was for her fans to take up causes.

“The point, with ‘Born This Way’, is to fight for something that not everyone believes in. To overcome adversity with a message,” wrote the multi-platinum singer-songwriter.
