Former PKR deputy secretary-general Jonson Chong claimed that the party had never issued any letter sacking another former deputy secretary-general, P Jenapala.

He said the so-called "sacking letter" was actually a forged one.

jonson chong johnson chong "What really sickens me to the core of my being is that I know for a fact that someone in the party HQ knows that the letter is a forgery. It was created to cover up an initial honest mistake made by somebody when they said that Jenapala was sacked in February 2009," he said in a statement issued here today.

Chong explained that he was the deputy secretary-general charged with the responsibility to assist the disciplinary board in handling cases referred to it by the central leadership council.

He said when the Jenapala matter first came up during the party elections, someone from headquarters called him to ask whether a letter was sent to Jenapala sacking him.

"I said there wasn’t such a letter and there never was such a decision to sack him. There was only a decision to sack him, in principle, if indeed it was found that he was involved in the formation of a new political party.

Chong said there was no doubt in his mind that the letter was a forgery, and he was "dumbfounded" that PKR could resort to cover up "an honest mistake" for which it could have just humbly informed the media and moved on.

Yesterday, former PKR secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim made a police report claiming that his signature was forged in the letter sacking Jenapala from the party.

On Thursday, the High Court here decided that it had no jurisdiction to hear Jenapala's suit against three PKR office-bearers in relation to the post of deputy president of the party.

In his originating summons on Nov 18, Jenapala stated that he was suing the party to get a declaration that he was entitled to contest the position of deputy-president.
