Pandan MP Ong Tee Keat is up in arms after being apparently “blacklisted or banned” by the Health Ministry at its functions.

According to Ong, the Health Ministry did not invite him for two functions at the newly opened Ampang hospital, which is within his constituency.

NONE The latest incident occurred on Nov 9, when Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin officiated the hospital.

Prior to this, Ong ( left ) was also not invited for Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah visit to the hospital on June 7.

On a posting on his blog today, Ong expressed regret over the attitude and actions of the Health Ministry.

“I have been informed that the list of guests is prepared by the ministry and (my exclusion) is arahan dari atas (instructions from higher ups).

Ong said the Pandan electorate has a right to know whether their elected representative is being sidelined by the ministry.

He said that as the Pandan elected MP, if he being discriminated, his electorate were also being discriminated and this was an insult to them.

“The ministry or its minister must explain whether there is a standing instruction or policy against the Pandan MP,” he said in a press conference in his Pandan Indah service centre on Friday.

Attempts to contact Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai has been futile while one of his aide said he would check on the matter.

Ong was formerly the MCA president and transport minister. He was ousted by Dr Chua Soi Lek for the party presidency during an extraordinary general meeting on March 28, just 17 months after assuming the post on Oct 18, 2008.
