Rasid Rosli, another former aide to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, claims that he was confined at a hotel and coerced into signing a statutory declaration against his will.

He is the second former aide to Anwar to have claimed this since Rahimi Osman last Wednesday.

In a statement today, Rasid said his allegations were documented in a police report lodged at the Shah Alam district police headquarters today.

According to Rasid, he was confined to the Quality Hotel on the night of June 28, 2008 following a police report lodged by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan that he was sodomised by Anwar.

‘I feel cheated’

Rasid said that he was confined together with Rahimi and was under 24-hour surveillance.

“I was only allowed to leave after I was ordered by (lawyer) Latheefa Koya to sign a statutory declaration prepared by her. I never authored the statutory declaration.

“I also do not agree with the contents of the document. Latheefa has never explained the statutory declaration to me and I don’t understand it completely.

“Furthermore, I have never appointed Latheefa as my lawyer,” he said.

Rasid said that Latheefa should know that he was a former convict, and had known Anwar since his time in jail, and does not possess a high educational background and thus the document should have been explained to him.

“But she did not do so. I feel cheated,” said Rasid.

Rasid said that he had signed the document at the time because he was worried about his safety and that of his family.

“I have had fear and uncertainties for close to three years because of the statutory declaration... When I saw my friend Rahimi coming out to correct a mistake, I feel braver and more confident now to correct the situation,” said Rasid.

He added that he has made another statutory declaration to explain the true events but it cannot be revealed now because of ongoing court cases.

When contacted, Latheefa said that she is in the midst of performing some checks before making an official announcement.
