A shocked PKR Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson Elizebeth

Wong is dead set against Lee Chong Meng joining her party.

She urged party leaders to reject his application although he is the newly elected PKR Bukit Bintang divisional chief.

The party's Women publicity chief said in a statement today that the party should stop taking in BN rejects.

Although the PKR should open its doors to all, it should not become an indiscriminating trashcan, especially for politicians who had been rejected by the rakyat, she added.

NONE She said that the acceptance of a discredited politician, could prove to be an obstacle to the party's major objectives of reforms.

Wong ( right ) pointed out that Lee was involved in a fund abuse case two years ago, for which the MCA decided to suspend him.

He was also involved in an affair which resulted in him being dropped as an MCA candidate for the 2004 general election.

On top of that , before the March 8, 2008 election, Bukit Bintang women voters had staged a peaceful picket, condemning Lee for allegedly assaulting women and being involved in bigamy as well as ignoring women's rights.

Elizabeth also reminded PKR leaders that Lee had previously attacked and smeared the DAP, hence the party should take into account the feelings of its ally and the difficulties that may come in the way of working together when deciding on his membership application.
