Star highlighted reports that police found 300 human bone fragments in the Sungai Panchau riverbed in Banting where the remains of murdered cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya and three others were dumped. It is believed that they may have belonged to 20 other victims.

New Strait Times front-paged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak attending the celebration of Malaysia Day in Sabah. Najib said that the rapid development enjoyed by Sabah and Sarawak is the fruit of the wise decision made by the people of the two states to agree to the formation of Malaysia.

Utusan Malaysia highlighted the Prime Minister urging the people to celebrate Hari Malaysia as a way to foster love for the country.

Sinar Harian led with news that the suspects in the murder of cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya had allegedly been involved in seven commercial crimes since 2005 and that they have appropriated RM7.1 million.

Berita Harian front-paged that the murder of cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya is due to problems arising from the sale of a piece of land worth RM29 million in Penang.

Chinese newspapers

According to a Sin Chew Daily interview with federal court judge James Foong Cheng Yuen, the judiciary is currently inviting some Chinese lawyers as judges, but they also found that it is hard to find those with high qualities.

 

Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has warned BN component parties not to make their disgruntlement public because it will taint the image of the coalition.

 

China Press also front-paged the statement of the Prime Minister urging the police to collect move evidence to prosecute those involved in the murder of Sosilawati and three others.

New Straits Times commented on the events which led to the recent proclamation of the Sultan of Kelantan and that since it had been approved by the state Succession Council, it is hoped that the shadow of doubt over his legitimacy would soon fade away.

Berita Harian said that if the government can curb threats from terrorists, they have faith that the government can control the rise of extremist groups who are threatening the country’s harmony.

 

Nanyang Siang Pau welcomed the latest article on Najib’s blog in conjunction with Malaysia Day - Our fight against extremism - and hoped that the government will take action against those who make racial slurs.

 

Sin Chew Daily said including Malaysia Day, our country has up to 15 days of federal public holidays now and it has affected our productivity. Hence, there is a need for this to be reviewed.
