'Ronnie, don’t fool the rakyat by stating that the greater enemy is BN. Dear YB, the greatest enemy is corruption, for it rots your soul to the core.’
Embattled Liu wishes things were different
Malaysiasakit: Ronnie Liu, after 52 years of misrule under BN, surely you know the rakyat's sentiments when it comes to corruption. With a new government by Pakatan Rakyat, we expect nothing less than a clean and efficient state administration.
We demand transparency and we'll not hesitate to throw out a government that conceals corrupt practices, however small. Corruption is the real enemy.
Habib RAK: Ronnie, I don’t know you personally. No doubt you have contributed to the progress of Selangor. At the same time, the manner you have approached matters, you come across as being quite arrogant.
Remember the Selcat hearing on allocations? You had spend almost all of your allocation within a short period of time. When you were questioned, you took a very indifferent posturing.
Now, in this matter of letterhead abuse, you are caught with your pants down. Being in this situation, you have written an appeal letter. You are seeking understanding. Are you sorry genuinely or are you sorry that you got caught?
Remember, as a public representative, there is no such thing as solving problems through internal channels. The public have every right to know.
Jiminy Qrikert: The holy month of Ramadan is a month when Muslims reflect on what's good for the self and society and what's bad and must be changed. That is my simple understanding as a non-Muslim. For Christians, Lent is the period of 40 days that they do the same. Whether it is Ramadan or Lent, the intention is the same. It is a month of reflection, self-sacrifice, rejection of all that is bad and evil and a commitment of self to doing good.
Umno-BN has time and time again proven themselves to be blatant liars, spin doctors, abusers of power, oppressors of the rakyat, racial strife mongers, expert practitioners of the divide-and-rule politics that keep the races at each other's throats, and deeply-corrupted thieves of the rakyat's money.
Suffice for me to say that idiots who wish for Umno to regain the government of Selangor are infidels who know not the real essence of Ramadan.
Rocky: It is nice to blame BN, but the issue is corruption and abuse of power and you (Ronnie Liu) should look at yourself in the mirror. You say you are a new government but you are not that new anymore. Also, you have been behaving like BN when dealing with councillors who are vocal and issues relating to local councils. So Ronnie, take a hard look at yourself.
If you think the job is tough, how are you going to be part of the team that goes to Putrajaya? Not all can lead or take the stress or juggle so many things at the same time. There are others who are more capable, so let them. Don't worry, you are not indispensable.
Daseen: I totally agree that the issue here is corruption. If there is corruption perpetrated and propagated by DAP MPs/Adun, be prepared to face the law and go to jail if convicted. The same goes to BN MPs/Adun.
The rakyat deserve an ‘ikhlas’ (sincere) MP/Adun, whether he or she is from DAP or BN. Don’t fool the rakyat by stating that the greater enemy is BN. Dear YB, the greatest enemy is corruption, for it rots your soul to the core.
AkuMelayu: We'll see who will have the last laugh.
Tee lied to us, explains S'gor DAP over 'reversal'
Terus: Syabas, DAP, for showing the correct way to deal with this type of scandal. Who among us can lay claim that our party members are perfect? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
All political parties just have to continue to deal with cleaning up and getting rid of corruption and the most important part is be seen to take appropriate and immediate action rather than offering excuses or trying to cover up.
Malaysians are now better educated and expose to many different media, and they are not stupid as what some of our politicians continue to think. Over to you, BN component parties. When are you going to start tidying up?
Lover Boy: My take on the matter is Tee Boon Hock is simply a victim of circumstances. Can you highlight the value of the contract that Tee gave to the company where his son is a director? With that background, can you ask what Dr Mahathir Mohamad said when they questioned his son’s business dealing? How much did Mahathir’s sons get when he was PM?
I can tell you this case is chicken feed. Unfortunately DAP has set a high standard of transparency and accountability. However small the contract, a breach is a breach and he has to go. As for MCA, who wasted RM12.8 billion of the rakyat’s money in PKFZ? They have no right to comment on these issues.
Veno: The son of an opposition party councillor secures a contract, there’s hue and cry. But when the son-in-law of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi secures multi-million ringgit contract, it was not an issue. Neither was any alarm raised when it involved the son of Mahathir. Why are these things happening only in Bolehland?
That said, any sum, however small the corruption, is corruption. DAP is transparent enough to remove Tee. Can other coalition parties in BN do the same? The case of Ling Liong Sik is just the tip of the iceberg. There are surely more big fishes swimming together with him.
Sarawakian: Let this be a lesson for DAP. Its knee-jerk reaction on this case was a mistake. But at the end of the day, what is important is that you have proven that you stand by your principle, which is the reason why the rakyat support you instead of the BN.
In future, do your homework well before making a decision. Cases like this should be handled like a domestic inquiry as in the case of companies in industrial disputes. Don't let the BN stir you into making hasty decisions. And stop all those stupid press statements before the inquiry is concluded.
Swipenter: Teresa Kok, you are 101 percent correct to in saying: "Which party can make such a bold decision like us? MCA and Umno had so many scandals, but did they sack their leaders immediately?"
For taking such a tough decision, DAP/Pakatan Rakyat have earned much more respect and trust from us. We don’t expect any political party to be perfect, but we expect them to take the necessary rightful action no matter how unpopular and painful that may be when any of their members/leaders step out of line, in order to preserve and maintain its good name.
Having said that, I think Ronnie Liu has a lot of explaining to do.
Alan Goh: Teresa Kok and DAP, the Chinese voters are behind you all the way. Take the bull by the horns, sack those councillors/party members who abuse their position to enrich themselves, family members and cronies. Malaysians do not want to replace a corrupted Umno/BN government with another corrupted party that will loot the country for the next 50 years.
At least DAP has the courage to act openly and transparently, unlike the MCA minister of transport Kong Cho Ha who instructed Port Klang Authority to release the payment of RM222 million to Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd when PKA is suing the company for RM1.4 billion for overbilling and work not done.
Gen2: MCA hitting DAP is like an old kettle trying to call another newly-bought kettle black. Instead of looking at itself with a critical eye and an honest intention to mend its ways, MCA is trying to portray DAP as being in the same stinking sewer it (MCA) is currently in.
This is a negative approach to problem-solving. If you can't improve yourself, pull others down with you. With this kind of mentality we can never build a true Malaysia.
Pakatan elected reps kept out of S'gor schools
BTN: BN is really unprofessional in their action and behaviour. In this country, we practice democracy and the rakyat should not be punished for exercising our rights. Just imagine, this is the government that has ruled this country for over 50 years.
Maybe they have been there so long they’ve forgotten that it’s the people’s votes that put them there. In order to get these votes they have to serve the voters, not the other way round. They purposely use racial issues to remain in power. Their only contribution has been to put fear in the hearts and mind of those voters whose only means of information is the mainstream media, which are tools for indoctrination.
The politicians ensure only their children have the best education so that they could continue to manipulate the poor and underprivileged citizens.
Takung: The school my children attend does not even have a photo of our menteri besar on display, unlike years prior to Selangor being a Pakatan state. How childish is that?
