The National Children of Felda Settlers' Association (Anak) has today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), over the depletion in the Federal Land Development Authority's (Felda) reserves.

azlan Felda's cash reserve was at RM4.08 billion in 2004 but dropped to RM1.35 billion in 2009 - a plunge of RM2.73 billion over a five-year period.

This is the second MACC report made against Felda over the depletion, where the first was lodged by Klang MP Charles Santiago and former Land and Co-operatives Deputy Minister Dr Tan Kee Kwong last month.

The report was lodged by Anak's chairman, Mazlan Aliman. Also present were 10 committee members from Anak and representatives of the Felda settlers from Pahang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah.

They want the MACC to report on:-

  • RM40 collected for each acre is deducted from each settler by the Felda management for its replanting scheme. What is the total amount collected and how many settlers have yet to participate in the replanting scheme?
  • Repayment for a housing loan taken by the settlers is done monthly with a certain sum. The settlers are charged 2.5 percent as management fee on the loan;
  • What is the relevancy in Felda contributing to the Sabah poverty fund.
NONE Mazlan, who was accompanied by the Negeri Sembilan PAS commissioner Zulkefly Mohamad Omar and another smallholder, Tamingin Paiman, spent 45 minutes giving their statements at the MACC heaquarters in Putrajaya this morning.

Mazlan ( right ) later said that the MACC report was simply a follow-up to the numerous police reports that were lodged on the issue. He added that 80 reports have been lodged at various police stations around the country.

He said that several additional documents were handed over to MACC, alleging criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and mismanagement at the Felda settlements in Sungai Buaya and Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor, and Lurah Bilut in Pahang.
