Kota Raja Umno division today criticised the party leadership for failing to take advantage of Pakatan Rakyat’s weaknesses and prepare for the next general elections.

Delegate Rahman Nordin said that it was up to state leaders such as secretary Satim Diman and information chief Abdul Syukur Idrus to attack Pakatan for their failings in administrating Selangor.

“The grassroots are confused, bored and losing steam. They don’t even know what are the strategies of state Umno leaders to win back Selangor,” he said at the division’s annual general meeting today.

“If we want to wait for Pakatan to become ‘bankrupt’, it will be difficult... For example, the illegal sand mining issue could have been our atomic bomb, its bang was more like a

transvestite’s flatulence,” he said.

Another delegate known only as Ismail however claimed that the state leadership was in the clear, blaming the state divisions for failing to relay instructions to the grassroots.

“On the other hand, the opposition are using the ceramah stage almost every night,” said Ismail.

PKR’s organ burnt

In another development, the division members burned copies of PKR’s official organ Suara Keadilan in protest of its reports over depleting cash reserves of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).

In his officiation speech of the AGM later, Mohd Ali said that the Suara Keadilan’s accusations were baseless and confused the public.

“I fully support Felda’s decision to take legal action against PKR and their newspaper,” said Mohd Ali.

At a press conference later, Mohd Ali defended act saying it represented the Umno grassroots’ dissatisfaction over PKR.

“It was not appropriate for them (to print such reports). There is no reason why Umno cannot burn their papers. They used to burn ours,” he said.

Felda has threatened to take legal action against Suara Keadilan and its leaders over a front-page report titled “Felda bankrupt”.
