MACC report against Taib's RM3 bil empire 'retracted'
Paul Warren: When they shot the 14-year-old kid (Aminulrasyid Amzah), without hesitation they called him a burglar. Going by that standard of practice, now that this report has been published, may I assume that Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud is now a crook?
Lim Chong Leong: MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) investigated Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim's car maintenance and his Hari Raya Korban's 46 cows as well as Teoh Beng Hock for a sum of RM2,500. Why not Taib?
Aramsa: So the law says a person or persons who hold high government post who commit act of treachery when report upon, the information contain in that report cannot be divulge to even the person who reported it because of the OSA (Official Secrets Act).
What type of law is this? If the wrongdoing of the high-profile government officials can be protected by the MACC, then what is MACC for?
Anonymous: High profile or not, Taib deserves to be investigated. No special treatment please. Otherwise, we will only encourage more high-profile figures to steal our money.
Pemerhati: When the current MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed was appointed, he said that he was given an extra long eight-year contract to ensure that he could focus on his grueling task of fighting corruption without fear or favour.
He obviously could not mention that he also had the grueling task of covering up the corrupt practices of the person who appointed him and all the close associates of the PM and his cronies.
There is only one avenue left to put an end to the massive corruption and plunder of this country and that is to vote BN out during the next elections. To do this, Pakatan Rakyat has to win over the rural folks and inform them how the country is being robbed by the present regime.
Free: Just because Taib is a high-profile individual and action cannot be taken is a most hilarious excuse. How can MACC be like ICAC of Hong Kong? This shows that MACC is not independent. Does it mean a high-profile individual can commit a criminal offence any time they like as no one dares to touch them? Where is justice?
Nicole: Why blame Taib when the people, especially the rural folks, keep voting for BN. Maybe they feel proud that their CM has a property empire in Canada.
S'wak BN meet to undertake four 'arduous' tasks
Rakyat Malaysia: Some time back, I saw a documentary on TV3 showing how a group of villagers in Sabah constructed a mini-dam in their area to produce electricity. I was wondering, so for all that past 52 years (or for the duration of BN's rule in East Malaysia), what has BN in the East Malaysia been doing?
They can't even provide basic necessities like electricity and water to villagers under BN's rule and yet BN dare to ask villagers to vote for BN again in the next state election? We should shoot ourselves if we allow BN to continue to plunder the country.
Anonymous: As admitted by Taib, after three decades under his rule, the Sarawak bumiputera are still poor. He stop short of saying that the Sarawak bumi will remain poor for as long as BN is in power.
So those people who want to topple Taib and his BN cronies, please put in real hard work to put the message across to the people of Sarawak that they will remain poor if BN is to retain power come the state election.
Sarawakian: Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian would make a good CM. He has proven his worth in helping the natives to fight against the government and the timber barons who steal their land. Taib knows that he is losing his grip and Sarawakians can't wait to see justice done for the evil deeds committed by the Taib family and their cronies.
Banned Bakun Dam series now on YouTube
Loyal Malaysian: A tale of the rich and powerful suppressing the poor rakyat . Having spent hundreds of millions on the development of the Bakun dam, why can't the Umnoputras be more magnanimous? Why charge these poor rakyat exorbitant prices for the low-quality longhouses when they have to vacate their ancestral land for the dam? These are farmers.
Why then resettle them on infertile agricultural land and deny them adequate technical agriculture advice and expertise? Why? No wonder the documentary was pulled by RTM and the producer sacked.
Kataking: It makes my heart bleed to learn that the displaced kids are not able to receive formal education as their parents cannot afford the fare to transport these kids to schools. That is a basic human right being taken away. These people gave up their native customary right land of 700 sq km for a few acres per family. What a raw deal!
Joe: The government shows its true character, and where its priority lies, by the way it treats its poor - the eviction and dispossession of the natives of their ancestral lands; collaboration of law enforcement to stifle protest and arrest demonstrators to protect the ruling elite who are engaged in racketeering; denial of justice to the downtrodden; and the callous bribery of the natives, villagers and farmers, exploiting their needs for votes come by-election time with "I know what you want, you know what I want. I help you, you help me."
The BN will allow pockets of poor to exist to justify its ‘affirmative action' for the enrichment of a few. Never in the history of Malaysian politics have so much been ripped off by so few at the expense of so many.
