Suspended Pandungan assemblyperson, Dominique Ng, resorted to even using a boat to get to the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly this afternoon but to no avail as he was not allowed in.

Ng, the sole PKR elected representative, tried to attend the sitting at 9am but was halted by policemen at a roadblock a kilometre away from the building in heavy rain.

dominique ng pandungan adun 191006 "I wanted to view the proceedings from the public gallery despite being served with the one-year suspension order earlier this week. It's nonsense for the police to put up a roadblock.

"They did not arrest me as they were auxiliary personnel but I was stopped and stood wet in a heavy downpour," told Malaysiakini .

"This is also the first time they have done this and I believe this is illegal," he said.

In the afternoon, Ng (left) , about 2pm along with several PKR supporters, boarded the penambang boat, which is a public boat plying the river, in a bid to go to the assembly.

Having succeeded in reaching the premises, Ng found the huge entrance doors shut.

"This is also probably the first time in the state legislative assembly history that the doors were closed prohibiting our entrance," he said.

‘Kangaroo court'

Ng was suspended from the assembly on Tuesday, after he had called the seating last year as a "kangaroo court". He was served with the suspension along with Chong Chieng Jen (below) (DAP-Kota Sentosa).

He then sought the assistance of the assembly secretary who came out and agreed to bring his letter to the Speaker requesting access to the public gallery.

However about an hour later, he was informed that Speaker Asfia Awang Nassar stood by his ruling and he was not allowed in.

"He stated based on section 14 (2) of the State Legislative Assembly (Privileges and Powers) Ordinance, I am suspended from entering the precinct of the assembly."

"I still think this is infringing my constitutional right for me to be in the public gallery. I will challenge this ruling," said Ng.

"I will write a formal letter tomorrow. I hope to meet the Speaker and want him to give a written reply on the matter," he said, adding the high-handed tactics employed by BN were totally uncalled for.
