The Perak DAP wants the Ipoh police to reinvestigate the alleged rape of a 14 year-old-schoolgirl by five suspects in Ipoh Parade last October due to the emergence of new evidence.

NONE This morning, Perak DAP secretary and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming ( far right ), DAP legal adviser Leong Cheok Keng ( left ), and DAP Menglembu assemblyperson Lim Pek Har ( centre ), lodged a report and handed over the victim's skirt and a videoclip, to an investigating officer at the Ipoh police headquarters.

According to Nga, the five suspects had spiked the victim's drink to knock her unconscious before two of them allegedly raped her while the other three watched.

The suspects were arrested after the victim lodged a police report over the incident. They were set free, however, due to lack of evidence.

Nga told Malaysiakini today that the mother feared she might not get justice from the police, as the suspects are said to come from rich families.

"She had kept her daughter's skirt (which had) the rapists' seminal fluid (on it) for about six months.

"However, I managed to convince her to have confidence in the police and surrender the items to them today for further investigation," said Nga, who is also the Pantai Remis assemblyperson.

However he declined to elaborate on the contents of the videoclip or where it came from.

He called for DNA tests on the semen traces to be carried out to pin down the alleged rapists, who are believed to be the victim's schoolmates.

Nga believes that with the new evidence, the rapists will be brought to justice.

He said he will be watching developments in the case very closely and will go all the way to get the police top brass in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur, to intervene if the investigation is not carried out satisfactorily.

Nga said he came to know about the rape incident after Chinese-daily Sin Chew reported the case in December last year.
