20% Hulu S'gor voters transferred, claims PKR
PKR election director Fuziah Salleh revealed today that the party had found that 13,488 voters - or about one-fifths of the total number of Hulu Selangor voters - had been tranferred to polling stations other than the one they had voted in March 2008.
PKR election director Fuziah Salleh revealed today that the party had found that 13,488 voters - or about one-fifths of the total number of Hulu Selangor voters - had been transferred to polling stations other than the one they had voted in March 2008.
Fuziah claimed this had been purposely done by the Election Commission (EC) to create confusion and chaos on April 25 when voters cast their ballots to choose their member of Parliament.
"This is the strategy of the EC to topple Pakatan," she said, referring to the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
She told a press conference that if the voters concerned were not informed of the transfer, they may go to the polling station they had voted in two years earlier, and find themselves unable to vote.
She felt that many might not make the effort to go to the correct polling station for various reasons. "Traffic jams, being late, tired or lazy, for example.”
It's happened before
The Kuantan MP said the same thing had cropped up in Selangor in the 2004 general election.
She expected that EC would reply that this is a standard process to make sure voters are evenly distributed to all polling stations.
But this explanation is far from satisfying as PKR had discovered that the voters were swapped between different polling stations, she claimed.
PKR strategic director Tian Chua (

"Chinese voters are moved to polling stations in estates and Malay Kampung , Malay voters are moved to Chinese new villages. This will create confusion."
Hence they urged voters to verify their polling stations with the Pakatan operation room before polling day.
Fuziah also revealed that about 230 voters in Kampung Tanjung, Sungai Choh, who are strong supporters of Pakatan, were transferred to the adjacent Selayang parliamentary constituency.
