The campaign to wrest back Selangor is already in first gear with today’s launch of the state BN convention in Shah Alam - the first gathering of its kind in the country.

NONE State deputy BN chief Noh Omar ( left ) fired one salvo after another against the ruling Pakatan Rakyat government, sparing no details at the several scandals and controversies that have rocked Pakatan.

From the Elizabeth Wong leaked semi-nude photos to Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s statements on doing away with the New Economic Policy, Noh had the 1,500 participants riled up in an anti-Pakatan onslaught.

But the real crux of the function is to also shore up support for the upcoming Hulu Selangor by-election which will be a real test for BN amidst rumours of infighting among the component parties over who should contest the parliamentary seat.

NONE Noh Omar, who was his usual firebrand self, rubbished the state government’s ‘Merakyatkan Ekonomi’ policy, and courted jeers for the Pakatan Rakyat by deriding the measures one by one.

The participants also appeared to enjoy his brickbats against state cabinet member Elizabeth Wong, using her leaked semi-nude pictures as missiles.

“When (Wong’s) dirty pictures came out, she should have resigned. But look at the Muslimat PAS chief who defended her.

“ Yang pakai tudung to mempertahankan. Orang nak telanjang dipertahankan (She who wore a headscarf defended her. Those who want to be nude are defended),” he said to cheers.

Don't squabble over Hulu Selangor

But Noh took a serious turn when touching on the upcoming Hulu Selangor by-election and attempted to silence the various critics squabbling over the seat.

NONE “Do not quarrel on whose seat it is. It was won by MIC. Now we need to close ranks as it will be a challenge in facing the machinery of a state government,” he said.

After delivering his keynote address, he told reporters that the Hulu Selangor candidacy is up to the top leadership “because they are wiser”.

“As to the operational machinery, it is our duty to work hard to carry the BN flag,” said Noh, who is also the BN elections director for the crucial by-election.

Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also state BN chief, later delivered a speech themed ‘BN can change: Love Selangor, Trust BN’ at the one-day meeting, held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

Also present at the function were MCA vice-president Donald Lim, and PPP president M Kayveas.
