your say 'Our ministers are born actors. Since our film industry is not doing well, I suggest some of the ministers move on to acting as a career. We may produce a blockbuster or two.'

Hisham unaware of 'third party' meddling with cops

Habib RAK: On March 13, 2010, Home Minister Hishammuddin was quoted in Malaysiakini to have said, "If there are any changes, I will know... I have an excellent relation with the inspector-general of police and his deputy."

On March 22, Hishammuddin said, "No, I have not heard any complaints and he has not raised it with me. If there is a third force, with power of influencing the police, inform me".

In less than 10 days, what happen to your excellent relationship with the IGP? Why is the IGP making a very serious allegation and you, the home minister, do not know about it? Hishammuddin, every time you open your mouth, you lie to the rakyat. You are a shame to the nation, especially your father and grandfather.

Teh: China Press first broke news about the IGP Musa Hussan's retirement before the Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein was able to announce it.

Now Utusan Malaysia has broken the news about a "third party" meddling with the police force, though the home minister is not aware of it. The IGP talked about this "third party" to the press instead of telling his minister.

Does anybody respect the home minister at all? Or is the minister sleeping on the job? Whatever the case may be, this lack of rapport between the home minister and his IGP is worrisome.

Loyal Malaysian: This is a very interesting wayang kulit (shadow theatre) being played out now. But IGP Musa , your time is up. Fade away gracefully. For you to make allegations like that openly is most unbecoming of your position as IGP. Your political boss has told you in not so many words: take action or else shut up!

KSM: Our ministers are born actors. Since our film industry is not doing well, I suggest some of the ministers move on to acting as a career. We may produce a blockbuster or two...

Ahmad Iqhbal: Act 2, Scene 1. [Enter Hishammuddin]...

Redz: Give this new film a nice title so that it can convince the rakyat to see who are acting.

Disgusted: Who are you kidding Hishammuddin? Playing dumb? Who is in charge of the police? You think the rakyat are fools? I like his statement, "We don't allow any third party to get involved in the running of the police." Just add to sentence "except Umno."

Ordinary Worker: As usual, Hishammuddin will deny it 'officially' but 'unofficially', it is another story. Please, the public aren't stupid to fall for that textbook trick.

Adam: Come on Hisham, the person who made the statement concerned is the number one of the police force. You've said before that we must trust the law and the police. Don't tell me you want to tell us we should think otherwise .

Tell me who to trust now. And where is the country heading to?

Bill Chin: I don't understand how can this Umno man tell lies to the public without even a blink.

Daniel Tan: What a bunch of crap from this keris -toting minister. What the IGP is referring is your party - Umno. This Musa fellow has hinted that a dark syndicate is also involved. Put Umno and ‘dark syndicate', and you have the answer.

Sarawakman: Of course, when Hishammuddin uses the term "we", he's referring to Umno. And it's obvious who Musa's finger is pointing at when he mentioned someone as riding roughshod over the police.

Ichigo: When Hisham said he is not aware, he means we should wait for a few more days before he confirms the matter.

Not confused: It seems to me that the whole edifice of the Home Ministry and PDRM (Polis Diraja Malaysia) are in an utter and declining shambles. There appear to be no lines of authority and a complete lack of transparency and intelligent thinking on the part of anyone from the minister downwards.

Maha Yoni: Syed Hamid Albar was a tough comedy act to follow, but it appears that Hishammuddin Hussein has outdone his lousy performance beyond all expectations as the most loathsome home minister since Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The exit is that way, Hisham.

Magnus: "We don't allow any third party to get involved in the running of the police." So there you have it folks! Straight slap bang in black and white out from the Home Ministry's chief horse's mouth no less.

And that is exactly why the rakyat will never get a workable IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission) with any real teeth, or any other real change for the better as long as this home minister and his unaccountable government are holding on overzealously to their soiled reins of your governing power. Enough talking and requesting and asking and begging on your knees don't you think?

Cliew: The precedent set by Mahathir in extending the service period of his loyalists in the judiciary, civil service and the police force has in fact created a culture of patronage and insidious discontent among their subordinates. This must stop. To preserve the independence of these institutions, their term must not be extended unless for any exceptional circumstances.

KayKay: It is an open secret that besides the ruling elite, the third party interfering with Police work includes former top officers of the force, including those who have served as IGP and deputy IGP, etc. These people are being used to lobby for various favours. They may not be doing it for themselves but for others who are prepared to be more than generous if they get what they want.

Things can only get worse for the police who are determined to protect their shady dealings come hell or high water. Even the IGP is under suspicion. He knows.

PGI: To those who think the third party is Umno, you'd better think again. It's not Umno or any political party. Clue: how did the ex-Commercial Crimes Investigations Department chief (Ramli Yusuff) escape jail ?

There are powers more efficient than Umno that can manoeuver the courts. Just ask the IGP!
