'Who started the rot? Who allowed the police force to be prostituted to the highest bidder? Who watched, participated and allowed the police force to be used by politicians for their political survival?'
IGP: 'Third party' intervening in the police force
P Dev Anand Pillai: Isn't this payback time? Now since he (police chief Musa Hassan) is complaining that politicians are getting involved in the chain of command in the police force, what has he been doing all this while? Wasn't he one of the co-conspirators to one of the most horrific crimes committed in recent times which was linked to top politicians?
Musa should know that if he is incorruptible, no politician - no matter who he or she may be - will be able to tell him or the police force what to do. Who started the rot? Who allowed the police force to be prostituted to the highest bidder? Who watched, participated and allowed the police force to be used by politicians for their political survival?
The police force used to be respected by the people but when money took over, the force has just become a group of hired legal thugs out to do the bidding for the highest bidder.
Tan Kian Khim: Musa Hassan is right to be paranoid: he has only six months of Umno-granted immunity left to protect him from having to answer for the interminably long catalogue of sins now stored in the public memory of the Malaysian people.
Once he has retired, the horde of festering skeletons in his closet will beat down the door and find him. Old sins cast long shadows.
Long Arm: This is a very serious allegation. Allegations of this magnitude have to be discussed in Parliament and a royal commission is certainly warranted, no ifs and buts, as this is the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM). The force is already under much suspicion from the people, and this makes matters worse. Is the leadership of this force and its integrity compromised?
Keturunan Malaysia: Dear Musa, I have never get tired of saying that we all have sinned at one time or another, intentionally or unintentionally. We all pray to God for forgiveness and blessings. It is never to late to repent.
In all your time as IGP, you must have known many 'not so nice' things which ordinary people like me may never know. It would help if you now come clean for the rakyat. If you can do that, you will find the rakyat will forgive you.
Loyal Malaysian: What a beautiful day this is! To read the IGP complaining about being sidelined in the chain of command. Padan muka kau !
Inspektor Klueso: This is typical double-speak either to obfuscate, or more likely, a veiled threat against the hand(s) holding the levers of power. Why speak to Utusan Malaysia , the mouthpiece of hatred and bigotry?
Simple, the ‘Master Race Party' has splintered, and Musa has the backing of the powers behind Utusan , who are not with the ‘third force', a subset of the party, who obviously has crossed swords with the man with the biggest pips on the shoulder pads.
Sheila Dowle: Third party interference? Only now does this faithless IGP come out and admit that there is outside interference. Tell us something we don't know, soon-to-be ex-IGP. The only people the police have been serving are the underworld crooks and the politicians, not the rakyat - so now don't come crying to us when your erstwhile masters have abandoned you.
Too bad when you had the chance to fulfill your role with integrity and objectivity, you didn't take it. Now you will forever live in infamy.
Habib RAK: Just recently, Musa Hassan said that PDRM takes no orders from anyone. Now he is saying that there is a third party involved. The key point is, Musa has lost all respect. It's now a free for all in PDRM. The public at large is able to see that his subordinates are trying very hard to please the Umno political masters to earn their favour. Musa himself is saddled with lots of skeleton in his closet just like PM Najib Razak. It's a real mess in PDRM.
The only way to clean the mess is to vote Umno/BN out. Those who have not registered to vote, please go register at any post office. Another son of mine will be eligible next month to vote and he is eagerly waiting to register. That's another vote for change. Let's save our beloved country - Malaysia.
Redz: A 'third party' intervening in the police force? Who is the 'third party'? Musa, since you have mentioned this, why keep quiet? We the rakyat would like to know.
Tkc: It is about time that someone in higher authority puts pressure on the police force to change their ways. This IGP has no right to complain because the credibility of the police, under his watch, is the worst in our history.
The ‘third party', whoever he is, should follow the recommendation of the royal commission and implement IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission) without any further delay.
Gk: Musa Hassan, since you know you are already 'tak laku', why not resign immediately? Why wait for another six months?
Ismail Saleh: We need a younger and more dynamic IGP. I spoke to an Arab post-graduate student. His car was stolen at Jalan Damai. His friend had been robbed in his house and recently an Arab woman was robbed of RM20,000 by snatch thieves when she was walking out of a bank.
The Arab student likes to stay in Malaysia since the people are friendly and the universities are of high standards. His only complaint is that there seems to be no police officer around to maintain law and order but when there are elections, there were thousands of them. He wonders whether Malaysians are the real threat compared to those thieves.
Cala: Who are happier to see Musa's ‘earlier exit'? Musa is undisputedly a controversial figure for his roles in Sodomy I and II. On record, he was the investigation officer of Anwar's Sodomy I which saw Anwar being sent to jail not for the crimes as charged, but for obstructing police in carrying out their duties. As a result Musa's image suffers.
When Sodomy II was announced, Anwar found himself having to face the same charge as before. Similar to the previous case, Sodomy II is also widely perceived to be politically motivated. The professionalism of the police in general, and Musa in particular are being questioned.
It is likely that certain influential parties both from within and without the executive deem him as a liability to Umno-led BN coalition's chance of winning in the next GE. In short, his 'earlier exit' from the police force, if it all materialises, is a welcoming move to many quarters.
Sivadas Balakrishnan: Musa, we see that you are cornered now. You have this final chance to redeem some pride and do this nation a favour. Spill the beans on all those who made you do wrong all this while. Tell the world the truth about the framing of Anwar. Also tell who wanted you to do it.
KayL: He has now started to talk some sense. What has happened? Is it due to the fact that it would be highly unlikely for his term of service to be extended any longer?
Sarawakman: If politicians are interfering with the police, please name him or them. As the head of the police force, it is your duty not to let anyone interfere with your work, even if he is the home minister.
Outahere: Finally Musa has admitted that the police force had not been impartial . It will be just a matter of time when names will be mentioned. I hope this will be a good lesson for the next IGP. Umno and BN don't pay their salary. Taxpayers do. It is time that PDRM stop its shameful deeds and start behaving like true a police force. It can't be that difficult a task, can it?
The: Musa said: "...other (sources of) authority that are issuing them orders"? The only other authority who has jurisdiction over the police force is the home minister. Why is the IGP behaving like a politician and giving vague statements to the press?
If he has proof, he should come out and say it or take the necessary actions. If the police personnel under him are confused, he should show his leadership and dispel the confusion. He is the IGP, so deal with it! If he cannot deal with it, he should resign so that someone else can deal with it.
Malayamuda: IGP must now lodge a police report against the police!
