Khairy, so now it's OK to demonstrate?

your say 'So now Umno Youth are telling us that it is Malaysian culture when they demonstrate? What kind of hypocrisy is this?'

Khairy leads Umno Youth in protest against Australia

Fairnessforall: KJ as usual is behaving like a monkey who has eaten chilli.

Before they ask others to mind their own business, they should also mind their own business. Burma should ask the Malaysian government to mind its own business, especially when the Malaysian government does not care about human rights. Who are they to lecture Burma about human rights and ask for release of anyone detained?

As fo Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's comment that the Australians do not know the real situation, well, we Malaysians do know the real situation. And we know that Anwar Ibrahim is being set up so you that can dismantle the opposition.

Rocky: Demonstrating is not the Malaysian way of registering dissent, according to Najib (Nov 11, 2007 in reaction to the Bersih demonstration). So why is Umno Youth chief Khairy (Jamaluddin) leading this demonstration? Are you practising what you preach?

If Australians were to demonstrate in front of the Malaysian High Commission over there, what would Umno/BN say about it?

Ngawangjimpa: Street demonstrations are not a Malaysian culture, said PM Najib and Home Minister Hishammuddin when the Malay writers association and opposition parties demonstrated against the use of English to teach maths and science last year.

So now Umno Youth are telling us that it is Malaysian culture when they demonstrate? What kind of hypocrisy is this?

Geronimo: Since you are at it, Khairy, don't forget the American embassy, too, as US Senator John Kerry also expressed a similar concern about the trial. You will be so busy hopping around Jalan Ampang from one embassy to another just to protest against their statements, it makes me wonder whether you haven't gotten anything else better to do.

Rayfire: For those who have yet to read the letter by the Australian MPs concerned, please do so before commenting or protesting unnecessarily.

They have been very diplomatic with their concerns. They are not supporting Anwar. They are concerned about how Malaysia is viewed by the rest of the world due to what seems to be an unjust trial.

So please don't be hasty in reacting to it by taking it to the streets. Perkasa is turning out to be more of a real threat to the national security than the candle bearers of the vigils.

As for Khairy, you're back to being your usual self. I am afraid the contents of your banners contradicts your argument that the views are personal and do not represent that of the Australian government.

Mandy Lee: Why is Umno protesting if they claim the Australian MPs protest is not reflective of the Australian government? Why is our government reacting in such a big way?

Wira: One has to lead and, occasionally, behave like a monkey if one has been crowned the king of monkeys. Other past monkey kings had been more treacherous, like the one who allegedly screamed for the blood of ‘pendatangs' at TPCA stadium.

Abd Omar: Khairy, when your own wing wants you out , then you came out to show your fangs! Pilah !

Tan Kian Khim: Just when some people were beginning to think that Khairy might have some intelligence after all, off he goes to quash that hope.

And where are the police and Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) with their tear gas and water cannons?

Lucia: This is the Umno way! So clear and obvious for all to see: demonstrating, shouting, yelling - the culture of Umno and Perkasa.

Doc: So when are your Umno ragamuffins planning a demonstration outside the US embassy?

These demonstrations will be picked up by international media and sink Umno even further. Thanks Khairy!

Kgen: Khairy said: "If you want to ask for a fair trial, OK, but if you're asking us to drop our charges and insinuate conspiracy, then this is something that we have to address."

Is it possible for Anwar to get a fair trial in Malaysia? This is like asking kangaroos to fly.
