The caning issue involving Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarnor will be decided after her audience with the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) Director Abdul Manan Abdul Rahman said that he was waiting for feedback from the meeting before taking follow-up action.

NONE "Kartika has to seek an audience with the Tengku Mahkota before a decision can be made," he said when asked about the caning sentence which had been postponed indefinitely.

Kartika, 33 ( left ), was fined RM5,000 and six strokes of the cane by the Syariah High Court here on July 20 last year after pleading guilty to consuming liquor at a hotel at Cherating on July 11, 2008.

Abdul Manan said Jaip had made preparation to carry out the caning sentence on the part-time model.

"After receiving the green light, we are prepared to carry out the sentence at any time," he added.

Tengku Abdullah who is also Pahang Islamic and Malay Customs Council president said he was willing to grant an audience to Kartika over the caning issue.

Abdul Manan was attending the wedding of Muslim converts Sheikh Adam Idham Fadhil, 27, and Ling Suraiyah Foo Abdullah, 29.
