'Khairy, go to East Malaysia as a student, not as a teacher, and learn the true application of religious tolerance from the folks there.'
BN Youth on mission to explain Allah row
Changeagent: Is BN Youth the model for the younger generation to follow? No, thanks. This is the same group of goons who, until recently, were wielding keris while threatening other races and physically harassed wheelchair-bound DAP leader Karpal Singh in Parliament.
Wira: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, please don't 'kacau' East Malaysians. The people who created the tension are not from the East. Go there as a student, not as a teacher, and learn the true application of religious tolerance from the folks there.
Jonathan Willie: You would do more good explaining to the people in West Malaysia. We're doing just fine here, thank you. And even if anything happens here, we know how to handle it differently, God willing.
Foo Fighters: What makes us East Malaysians proud is that we do not play racial politics. Look at Sabah: when we campaign for elections, we never use racial issue to gain support. We do not make racist remarks and attack other races. Only West Malaysians play such a dangerous game. Khairy, please don't bring in your racist game to Sabah.
Doc: Khairy, before you and the BN Youth go to East Malaysia to explain the issue on the use of the word 'Allah', could you please start by explaining to West Malaysians, who are equally confused on this issue? As for the 1Malaysia concept, it got buried with the ‘Allah' issue.
1Malaysia: Khairy, hands off Sabah and Sarawak. We do not need you and your extremists to come and colonise us. First, the chief minister's post was rotated among the BN component parties. Then, Umno said that only the dominant party could take the CM's post.
Sabah is now ruled by Umno. The Sabahans should realise this and kick them out in the next general election. The Allah row should not have happened, but Umno started it, and now they have shot themselves in the foot. This is a blessing in disguise for Sabah and Sarawak.
Bujang Senang: You will not be welcome here. Stay out. You want to give the impression that you are nice to Sarawak and Sabah? You cannot be trusted. You are not doing this because you truly want to ensure justice and fair play, but because you know what you have done will backfire and you will be kicked out of Putrajaya.
Gee: In East Malaysia, is the Christian God referred to as Allah? Yes. Do they speak in Bahasa Malaysia? Yes. Is the Christian God referred to as ‘Allah' in Bahasa Malaysia? Yes. So is it not wrong? No (in East Malaysia). Is Bahasa Malaysia the same throughout the whole of Malaysia? Yes. Do we all sit for same exams? Yes.
So why can't Allah be used in West Malaysia as well? Because we say so. And because there are enactments. Can you quote anything from the Quran that prohibits the use of Allah by Christians? No.
So why do you say it is prohibited for us to use? For the sake of harmony. Isn't it better to educate the people that it is okay for non-Muslims to use the word? No. Why? Because we say so. Who is this we?
Paola: I think BN is creating more chaos instead of calming the various communities down. What else do you want to explain to us in Sabah about Allah? We Christians have been humiliated and ‘downsized' enough.
I love being in Sabah because I'm free to choose. Let me remind you that there is no such thing as an official religion here. Please refer to the 20-point agreement .
Richard F Sindra: Minister in PM's Department Nazri Abdul Aziz has said that Putrajaya already conceded that the word 'Allah' can be used within the Sabahan and Sarawakian Christian community. Muslims in both of these states have not shown any objection. So there's nothing to explain.
Dood: "We want to ensure that the BN Youth becomes a model for the young generation" - I don't think we need the country to have an entire younger generation of racists and religious bigots.
Black Mamba: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) should pull out of BN and show the voters of Sabah that they do not subscribe to Umno's religious politics of 1Malaysia, 2 Religious Standards.
Hello: What's the point of going to East Malaysia to explain when the people there have accepted the news calmly?
