'No logic and law can be applied to religious issues. But a great leader's influence can play the vital role in this area.'
Anwar tells supporters not to join protests
Disgusted Malaysian: Both our prime minister and Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussien should quit immediately for their poor handling of this ‘Allah' controversy. Shame on them and the Umnoputeras in their party. And we wonder why other BN component parties like MIC, Gerakan, Supp, PBS, etc, are so quiet and timid on this issue?
But we salute the clear, open-minded stance taken by Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakatan Rakyat coalition which, hopefully, will help to diffuse this tension in Malaysia.
All right-thinking Malaysians will applaud the stand taken by PAS and PKR in condemning these silly protests which we know are orchestrated by certain powerful political leaders for their own political interests and survival.
Mr PM, talk is cheap, so you need to walk the talk and show us your leadership quality if you expect Malaysians to believe your ‘1Malaysia' slogan and vision. Perhaps now, you are regretting coming up with such an ambitious vision when your party is full of racists and incurable radical elements.
Lvbala: It is time for Pakatan to show what really ‘1Malaysia' means. Anwar Ibrahim should play his cards right and tackle the issue wisely. No logic and law can be applied to religious issues. But a great leader's influence can play the vital role in this area. Most important is the leader should be wise too.
Hisham says he was misquoted on 'Allah' protest
Victor Johan: Is Home Minister Hishammuddin saying that his statement was misreported by Bernama ? Are we going to see the head of the Bernama editor-in-chief rolling?
What action is he going to take against Bernama which really stands for Berita Nasional Malaysia, a government-owned news agency which spreads all of the government's propaganda.
Usually the minister's press secretary will prepare a news/press conference script and passes the same to Bernama and this agency will send it out to all the newspapers and news portal. Let's get real here, he is shamed.
Sentinel: Hishammuddin also supported the ‘cow-head' protesters by meeting them. So how could he have been misquoted and now blamed the news blogs for spinning?
It is only consistent of this minister to place more importance on his brand of politics rather than the peaceful co-existence of the people of Malaysia. His father would be rolling in his grave if he knows his son has turned out this way.
PM Moey: Just like he did in the ‘cow-head incident', this ‘Kerismuddin' is trying to wash his hands of the matter. What we peace-loving rakyat want to say to him is that if there is any untoward incident arising from the demonstration today, we all will hold him responsible. Period.
Teens escape the clutches of tyranny
Malaysian For Malaysia: Slavery is a crime beyond all human rights infringements. These people who enslaved children should and must be dealt with the severest of punishments.
Justice must be colour blind. I fear that just because these two children are Indian, the whole issue of slavery will be turned into a racial issue. Let that never be the case. The rights of children should be recognised by the government.
Bapak Toyol: Where is MIC president S Samy Vellu? He claims he represents the Indian community but fails to see this slavery. Where is his S Subramaniam who is the human resources minister? Is he so busy just like you that he has no time for such people? Shame on the MIC.
Usha Kumari Pillai: I'm sure that this is not the first time that I have come across people being enslaved in Bahau. Why is it that there are such areas? Is this practice rampant in such areas where cheap labour is required? What are the people in the vicinity doing about it, especially the political parties?
Newspapers en route to doom, warns journalists' union
Kevin: Our newspapers face declining sales because of unfair and lopsided reporting and news coverage denied for the Pakatan parties.
These dailies which are owned by the various BN component parties, more often than not, dish out venomous headlines and negative stories that attack Pakatan to the hilt. These papers are so obviously serving the interests and agendas of their political masters without even batting an eyelid.
Stories and events detrimental to the interests of the ruling BN government are buried and do not see the light of day in their media. The rakyat are not fools. They know what to do. The Internet is a far better avenue for truth, justice and fair play. Wake up, our mainstream newspapers!
Different Strokes: Why is the New Straits Times still in print when its readership has dipped below the 150,000 mark, one wonders. The Star is lined up for the next circulation drop onslaught as we'll boycott all of them.
The e-media is doing a good job and its news are more credible. And did we not hear of some strange suggestion that Umno print its own Chinese daily? What a joke.
Come home, Waythamoorthy
Kgan: All that the Indian community leaders asked was that he account for the money collected but instead of giving an account, Hindraf's P Waythamoorthy chose to sue them. If Waytha can account for the money, why take legal action? To silence them?
The suit will fail because they have never directly accused Waytha of misappropriating money. Suing friendly news media shows he doesn't know who his friends are. And I agree, the longer he remains in London, the less his credibility by the day.
Temenggong: How does one return to Malaysia when one's travel document does not allow it? And why don't you all plead for Raja Petra Kamarudin to return too?
As someone mentioned, Hindraf monies are with independent accountants and not with Waytha or his brother and Human Rights Party president P Uthayakaumar. Besides, anyone defaming must be held accountable. The right course of action is for the named parties in the Waytha's defamation suit is to withdraw their careless remarks.
