Teoh Beng Hock's family today filed an application to cite Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer Raub Ghani for contempt of court for lodging a police report against Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojasunand.

Speaking to reporters after filing the application, Gobind urged the Attorney-General to support the application against the errant MACC officer.

"We also don't want other issues to crop up to delay the inquest into Teoh's death," he said. The inquest will be mentioned on Jan 7 for a new date.

Also present was senior lawyer Karpal Singh who said that Raub's police report against Pornthip amounted to criminal intimidation against the expert witness.

"In his report, Raub had alleged that Pornthip had leaked the details of the second post-mortem report.

"He has also threatened the witness for allegedly doing so. The court must punish him for being in contempt of the inquest," said Karpal.

He also urged Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail to take action against the MACC officer for criminal intimidation.

Supported by brother's affidavit

The application by Teoh's family was supported by an affidavit filed by the late political aide's elder brother Teoh Meng Kee.

In the affidavit, Meng Kee said he believed Raub's report was equivalent to a contempt of court as it presented a risk of interference in the course of justice.

"The police report also tantamount to criminal intimidation and a threat towards the pathologist," he said.

Meng Kee wants the court to direct AG Abdul Gani to lodge a police report against Raub under Section 5 of the Abduction and Criminal Intimidation of Witnesses Act 1947 (Revised 1977).

The section provides for an imprisonment period of up to 10 years and a fine. 

Meng Kee was present for the filing today along with his parents.

NONE On Jan 1, Raub and another officer Hisham Mohd Yusoff filed two separate police reports against Porntip ( left ) and Suara Keadilan , the organ of PKR.

The reports concerned an article which claimed that the pathologist had confirmed that Teoh was murdered.

On July 16 last year, Teoh, 30, the political aide to Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after he had given a statement as a witness on alleged misuse of allocations for state assemblypersons in Selangor, at the MACC office located on the 14th floor of the same building.
