'It is for the use of ‘Allah' in worship and publication in Bahasa, not in English. So to say ‘the Catholics had all along use God, why now want to use ‘Allah'' is wrong.'
Court declares 'Allah' ban invalid
Lucia: Everybody must not forget the issue at hand. The Herald had all along use 'Allah' in its Bahasa section. Then the Home Ministry suddenly ban the weekly paper from using the term, so the Herald - which is organ of the Catholic Church - fought for the use of 'Allah'.
It is for the use of 'Allah' in worship and publication in Bahasa, not in English. So to say "the Catholics had all along use God, why now want to use 'Allah'" is wrong. Yes, they had use God and will continue use God in English worship/publication but in Bahasa, they want to use 'Allah' back.
Habib RAK: The arrogance and the audacity of the deputy public prosecutor Kamaruddin Mohd Said to infer that the decision handed down by the High Court may only apply to Herald's 2009 permit - should the permit issued for 2010 contain the same prohibition, it may require a new round of legal case. This clearly tells us to what extend they would go to stop this.
Cala: I think many readers in this forum will not be totally surprised at the next course of government's action and its expected outcome.
To be fair with the judiciary, we do have quite a few respectable judges up there besides justice Lau Bee Lan . Remember those honourable names in the high courts? Remember also justice James Fong who presided over the Bakun Dam case for the interest of the natives in Sarawak?
But as you rightly say, they would not go far in this Bolehland - because we are uniquely Malaysians.
Ezilan: Only narrow-minded fanatics will see God as having one name called Allah only. These limited thinking individuals with bloated egos cannot see God in everything.
If one can understand the interconnectedness of energy (as explained by the Grand Unified Theory in nuclear physics) and thus proving that there is only one universe and, then God is this interconnected energy everywhere and is in everyone and everything. Hence, truly speaking, all names are his names, in whatever language you may call him.
There is only one universe and the creator is within his creation and creation is within the creator. Fanatics cannot comprehend this because of their bloated egos that only their god is the true god and only one name can be used.
Fanatics are the cause of so much violence over God as seen in the history of mankind. As Gandhi once told a violent fanatic, "Do you wish to kill your brother just because he calls God by a different name?"
Kee Thuan Chye: The use of the word ‘Allah' by The Herald might constitute a threat to national security? Oh, my God! Would it causes the heavens to rain fire and brimstone on Malaysia? Would the earth open up and swallow Malaysians?
Enough is enough! Don't keep throwing that "threat to national security" hogwash around any more! Even hogs have better sense!
Hindraf vs Hindraf: One faction sues, the other makes police report
Unfortunate Tamilian: Nobody questions the might of Hindraf that shook the very foundation of BN. One thing is sure, the BN with its might and money has succeeded in breaking our unity. What a shame. Let's move on and find a way to unite for the betterment of all Malaysians.
Gandhi: It's very unfortunate that Hindraf, a unique force that emerged to change the mindset of the people has to go through a tough test to withstand its growth. Money matters have to be handled very carefully as many parties have fragmented into smaller factions because of some improper usage.
Let's see which group wins the heart of the people. Truth will be out as it has come to an ugly stage. The weaker group will lose out just like what happened to MMSP (Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party), a group which was formed with no solid foundation.
Viewing the present scenario in Hindraf, people are not just going to buy the false accusations. Any group that functions like the community's saviour will eventually get the support. It's in a way good that a conflict has come for Hindraf to become a more mature group.
One faction will have to take a backseat and accept the destiny. I'm sure the public will back up the better faction.
Mythots: When will the Indians stop fighting among themselves and try to portray themselves as the sole champion of the Indian cause? Why can't all the groups work together instead of trying to be too clever? It's always the case with the Indians, they have more parties than all the rest put together.
In the end, we are exploited by the others and then we cry, "We're sidelined...". Grow up, and make a united stand for the rights of the Indian community, instead of making us being a laughing stock among the major ethnic groups in the country.
There will be differences of opinions, but argue it out and get a consensus. My advice to the Indians, take stock of the situation and work out a consensus among Indian organisations and take action as a united front. Don't go suing each other and be laughed at for it. It's very embarassing.
Disgusted: It looks like Hindraf is doomed with all this infighting between self-centred chauvinistic "leaders". It is fast becoming like MIC, PPP, and all other so-called Indian political parties.
When will the Malaysians of Indian origin realise that they can't stand on their own and fight? As the saying goes, if you put many Indians together in a pit, none will get out unless they cooperate and help one another to devise methods to get out. Instead we see them pulling each other and prevent another from climbing out. Isn't that is what is happening with all the so-called Indian groups in the country?
That is why many very educated Indians keep away from politics in Malaysia as the politics practiced in this country is gutter politics. Our politicians still have a third world mentality. They are in it to get rich quick.
