The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to soon complete its graft probe on Kelantan Chief Minister Incorporated (PMBK), the state investment agency.

A source familiar with the investigations said the commission is in the final stages of completing its work.

"We will wrap up either at the end of this week or early next week," the source told Malaysiakini .

The investigation papers will be handed to the legal and prosecution division, which will study them to determine if charge(s) can be preferred. If necessary, it may send the papers back for more evidence or documents to be gathered.

azlan The probe has caused a political crisis in Kelantan, resulting in Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's son-in-law - Mohd Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman (right) - being told to resign as chief executive officer of PMBK.

Last month, it was reported that PMBK had sacked its corporate liaison officer Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz, known as Kickdefella on his blog-site.

However, Mohd Ariffahmi denied that the dismissal was linked to the MACC probe, which had begun last month.

Pressure on Nik Aziz

PMBK is the investment arm of the state government, and is directly under the control of the Menteri Besar's Office.

Mohd Ariffahmi was appointed as chief operating officer in 2008 before being promoted to CEO two months ago.

The MACC has twice questioned him, in addition to seeking information from the chief financial officer last month. Several documents including financial statements have been seized.

husam musa pas interview 170507 Media reports have claimed that the investigation has resulted in a rift between Nik Aziz and senior exco member Husam Musa (left) - a one-time protege - who was said to have played a role in appointing Syed Azidi.

Speculation is now rife that Nik Aziz, who has headed the Kelantan government for 19 years, may vacate his post.

His son Nik Abduh, in a recent blog-posting, said Kelantan PAS should not to stop his father from resigning when the time comes.

"My father is old and weary. He has given his best. If one day he discloses his wish to resign, let there be no fools who tell him not to do so," Nik Abduh wrote.

There have also been suggestions that Nik Aziz - also the PAS spiritual adviser - should name his successor to prevent a power struggle when he leaves office.
