Malaysiakini 10 th Anniversary Dinner (MAD) guests can look forward to some stellar entertainment. The performances lined up are a heady cocktail mix of song, dance and laughter provided by some of the best talents in the country.
Well-known names like singer Reshmonu and comedian Joanne Kam Poh Poh will share the stage with fresh talents Kraft, Amanda Imani and Elvira. To add some variety, the Tugu Drum Circle will also be performing along with dance troupe Dance 09.
"We have a fabulous mix of talents on MAD night - singers, entertainers, drummers and dancers. Guests can look forward to a great night," said Malaysiakini chief executive officer Premesh Chandran.
Reshmonu played coy when asked about his planned performance next Saturday night. The multiple-award winning performer is known not just for his distinctive braided hairstyle, but vocal stylings that fuse elements of soul and R&B.
Choosing to keep his routine a surprise, instead he had this to say: "Here's wishing Malaysiakini a decade of the whole truth and nothing but the truth."
Joanne Kam Poh Poh is notorious for her ranchy, bawdy Boom Boom Room cabaret show in the 90s. She was a big woman in many ways, with a loud, raucous personality and a hefty, voluptuous frame that set her apart from the traditionally skinny female entertainers.
Kam might now have a much slimmer figure, but she assures us that she won't tone down the laughs.
"If I find guests not laughing, that's ok. I'll just use my magic fingers and tickle!"
Fresh talents gracing MAD
Aman Dhillon, otherwise better known as Kraft, is a Malaysian hip-hop recording artist, performing artist and record producer.
"I'll add something different to the mix of entertainment," he promises.
Young Amanda Imani ( left ) is another multi-talent, whose singing skills have been honed from a young age. The lovely lady is also quite the dancer, and looks to be a rising teen sensation in the mould of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
Sharing the stage with Amanda is the sultry-voiced Elvira Arul. Her single, Simple Love, has been making the rounds on the airwaves and there's no doubt, the woman has impressive vocal pipes.
"I'm glad for the opportunity to sing for Malaysiakini's 10th Anniversary Dinner and be part of the celebration," she said.
Dinner guests will also have the chance to meet a talented group of dancers led by choreographer Michael Xavier Voon. They will present Diaries 09, a performance that won them the People's Choice Award in the recent KLPAC Short and Sweet 2009 arts festival.
To add more colour to the night, the famed Tugu Drum Circle will bring their heady blend of drums and percussions to the stage.
"It's our way of bringing people together, because music knows no boundaries, " says Paul Lau, co-founder of the group.
Emceeing for the night will be the winsome Daphne Iking ( right ) and Will Quah, co-hosts of NTV7's The Breakfast Show and celebrities in their own right.
With this amount of talent on stage, MAD will truly be a night to remember.
Malaysiakini is celebrating its 10th year anniversary on Saturday, Nov 28 with a gala dinner at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara. Be there! Seats available from RM100.
