'PKR needs both Azmin and Zaid'

vox populi small thumbnail 'Both have their own strength to contribute to the party. I hope Anwar Ibrahim will be able to convince both to see the bigger picture...'.

Zaid takes six-month leave, cracks in PKR?

Habib RAK: PKR needs both Azmin Ali and Zaid Ibrahim. The party is a growing organisation and soon it will be ruling at the federal level. Azmin is a key player in developing PKR to an amazing level. Zaid, as a newcomer, plays a different role but an important one.

Both have their own strength to contribute to the party. I hope Anwar Ibrahim will be able to convince both to see the bigger picture. Stay united guys... we still have a long way to go.

Gem: Azmin is showing his territorial and defensive nature, therefore Anwar asked Zaid not to go (to Sabah) because he doesn't want relations to worsen. But Zaid is going because an invitation was extended to him, and he saw no reason why he cannot go to Sabah just because he has to take care of Azmin's feeling.

All these goes to show that even within PKR, they cannot work together. How do you expect the three Pakatan Rakyat parties to work together?

Clear Soul: Zaid, you are one of the most respected figure in PKR. Who in history would ever be so bold to let go the luxury life of a minister in the government of the day and join the opposition? Do not be troubled by those who has never ever been there and now dreaming so much to be there in the next general election.

I do not believe in the mainstream newspapers but my own involvement in PKR recently really open up my eyes. To my horror, some of the nasty things that the mainstream newspapers reported are actually true.

I am beginning to wonder if PKR or Pakatan is ready to take over the government. By attacking BN, I think Pakatan is just being a coward. The rakyat want to see what the opposition can contribute to the society and the nation. So show us what you can do in the states which are under your control.

Henry Basil S Joseph Xavier: This controversy of Azmin vs Zaid is the work of corrupt members within PKR. I am still waiting for Anwar Ibrahim to comment and put to rest what has been splashed in the news.

If he doesn't step in, the issue will get bigger and knowing Zaid, he will quit PKR and continue with his work of building a unified Malaysia. PKR has everything to lose. This again clearly demonstrates that there are many Umno rejects in PKR whose sole purpose is to profit themselves.

This is the biggest hurdle Anwar has to overcome if PKR is to broker a sustainable Pakatan with PAS and DAP.

Ahmad Kamal : PKR must think about nation-building as a priority. If that means cleaning up the house, do that quickly. Anwar has his 'good buddies' who will stick with him through thick and thin like Azmin, who may not have a good public image.

The rakyat wants to see how Anwar deals with his cronies who are not performing. They may do anything for Anwar but are they doing things that is going to make a difference to the party, Pakatan and the future of democracy?

Let's hope that the rest of the bigwigs in PKR help Anwar towards a better governance of the party. If Zaid is the man, give him support. If that means taking Azmin out and cold-storaging him, do that. The rakyat tak mudah lupa...

Ong 'saddened' by betrayal of comrades

Observer: I think it's more got to do with the CC members having the shock in discovering the real OTK (Ong Tee Keat) when his mask is removed! He's not only a coward but a hypocrite! After losing the EGM, he tried now to blame the CC! It's just unbelievable.

Dood: Oh, Ong, Ong, Ong... You're "saddened" by the betrayal of your comrades? I'm sure they're equally "saddened" by your lack of integrity in not honouring your own promise to step down should you lost the confidence vote. Don't act like you're all innocent and blameless.

Eddy: Dear Ong Tee Keat, the writing is on the wall. You lost the no-confidence vote. A great leader knows when he is beaten. You are not as great as you think you are, it's time to let go of the MCA president post. Go with honour, do not linger and wait to be kicked out.

You brought this upon yourself. Had you obeyed the wishes of MCA members and work with your deputy, Dr Chua Soi Lek, this misfortune would not have fallen upon you.

Thomas Foo: OTK and his supporters should leave the party and launch MCA (Malaysian Community Association). Your chances of getting support is greater with it. Then, go for the 13 th general election.

Cala: Let me be clear (my apology to have borrowed from Obama's most frequently used phrase), OTK is currently put on trial on issue with respect to his own pre- EGM pledge. What is at stake is his credibility for being too loud mouth, a quality commonly associated with men of lesser EQ (emotional quotient).

Let me be clear: No doubt PKFZ scandal is of paramount importance to every average Malaysian, let us not assume that only OTK can recoup all the stolen wealth.

Why we speak out on Kartika

Kleo: Thanks Ambiga (Sreenevasan) for your insightful and moving call for a more civilised Malaysia. Malay, Indian, or Chinese; Muslim or non-Muslim, highly educated or not, all of us want to live in peace. Why not we help each other?

Thinking aloud: Thank you for a clear presentation of thoughts and ideas. I hope it leads to an open-minded discussion among the people concerned. It is through dialogue that we will enrich our society towards justice and fairness for all people, be they the weak or strong, Muslims or non-Muslims.
