'The 'gag order' is not going to work. Umno found him guilty of involvement in money politics which, essentially and wholly, is corruption. This ghost will haunt them for a long time to come.'
Isa's suspension declared a no-go area
Tan Teng Wah: It's too late for damage control. Mohd Isa Samad's misdeed did not take place just yesterday.
Umno found him guilty of involvement in money politics which, essentially and wholly, is corruption. The whole world knows about that and still remembers.
The 'gag order' is not going to work. This ghost will haunt them for a long time to come. Fortunately, we still have the cyberspace.
Wong Chee Kong: Despite the newspapers directed not to report the matter, the entire constituency is already fully aware of it.
So this action only makes the situation worse. Why can't they think of the consequences?
Word of mouth can sometimes be faster than electrons.
Sentinel: If this 'ban' on the Chinese vernacular press is true, then this country has gone back in years as far as press freedom is concerned.
More so, PM Najib Razak and his cousin, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, have gone back on their promises to make the press more free. Liars again...
Teh: You know, the best way to make people talk about something is to tell them not to talk about it!
The Home Ministry is doing Pakatan Rakyat a favour. Now we are all talking about the Home Ministry telling newspapers not to talk about Isa Samad and his money politics.
Ahmad Iqhbal: For too long, the majority has been silenced. Brought up like mushrooms. You know how mushroom are kept - in the dark.
The silent majority is silent no more. You can shut the mouth of the Chinese dailies but the gas will come out the other end - more foul, more potent.
The Bagan Pinang voters will get the whiff and vote for the opposition.
P Dev Anand Pillai: The BN candidate's picture showing the ‘thumbs-up' and of him being carried on the shoulders of his indoctrinated supporters goes to show that the ruling party endorses corruption.
The ‘thumbs-up' sign showed by the candidate speaks for itself. It simply says that corruption is the ‘best' and only method to lead Malaysia.
It is the best and it is foolproof because as long as you have what it takes, you can buy your way out of anything in Malaysia.
So the candidate is right for showing the thumbs-up sign! The Malaysian way is the corrupt way! If we are experts in it we survive; if we are not then we are kicked out.
KayKay: No one should seek public office. In fact, public office should seek them.
If a person uses money to get into public office, he can be reasonably accused of doing it for self-serving reasons rather than for the general good.
In fact, Isa Samad should ask whether he should offer himself for public office considering also the fact that there are many others around him who probably can do a better job.
In any case, he has been around too long and should not hog the post. His time is over. He should move on and not seek to make a comeback. Old habits die hard.
Sooner or later, he will be in trouble again over money and corruption.
Why is he getting into public office if not to get back onto the gravy train and collect government projects to sell to the business community for a quick commission?
Ngawangjimpa: Another classic case of selective persecution. First the online media and now the Chinese media.
Why doesn't the Home Ministry plug its mouthpiece Utusan Malaysia from continuously spewing out racially sensitive articles?
The Chinese community can easily see through the suppressive methods of the government with this order to the Chinese newspapers and that's certainly not a smart move to win over the Chinese.
Instead, it will drive them to vote against Isa.
Tan Kian Khim: As usual, Umno-BN and its lackeys fall back on the standard tactic of all criminal fascist regimes.
Instead of not committing crimes in the first place, they prefer to prevent the people from learning the truth, by suppressing information and persecuting anyone who exposes them.
Just like how MCMC is now harassing Malaysiakini for posting the 'cow's head' videos and how the police are trying to arrest the PKFZ whistle-blowers instead of the criminals involved.
Dood: When you can't change the truth, you repress it. Such is the way of Umno/BN.
