BN seeks to break losing streak with Isa

Nik Sulaiman Hassan: The PM recently mentioned the future candidate must not just be popular within the party but also to the rakyat . So looking at this, BN is still not learning from past mistakes.

Last election, the rakyat had already spoken their frustration towards the government by giving opposition their votes. It's not that they want the opposition but simply they don't like the government who favour corrupt practices and untrustworthy people in authority.

Ngawangjimpa : Umno has just fallen into Pakatan Rakyat's trap by opting for Isa Samad for Bagan Pinang. It has given PAS a field day in attacking Isa's dubious record and Umno will be virtually defenceless because a corrupted leader, who was put into pasture for three years for money politics, will be rejected by the people.

No amount of argument by Umno will change that. From a seemingly hopeless position, now Pakatan has a chance of staging an upset in Bagan Pinang.

Bob : Umno's final decision was to choose a corrupted candidate. It does not care to hear the rakyat's voices. What they care about is winning. By all means, in as many unscrupulous ways we can imagine.

Petricio : Until the final outcome of the vote is known, we cannot totally dismiss the chances of PAS candidate. For those who point their fingers to Umno for offering a tainted candidate, be reminded that Umno does not decide the winner in this by-election. It is the people.

If Isa ends up as the winner of this contest, nothing more can be said except the people deserve who they voted for. They are after all, at the end of it, will be on the receiving end of the choices they have made.

Billy Ong: Pakatan or PAS do not need to fret over this by-election. It is already a foregone conclusion that Umno will retain the seat with the help of the 4,000 postal votes.

But then again, it will be a hollow victory. The only thing left for PAS or Pakatan to do is to reduce the majority, especially the Indian electorates. That would put paid to the Makkal Sakti fellas.

Gk: It is time our police and military personnel in Bagan Pinang vote according to conscience. Show the rest of the Malaysia that you can do it.

Johan Saravanamuttu : Umno will be disappointed. Their candidate looks unattractive, old and reeks of depravity and corruption. Just by looking at the ethnic composition of the constituency they won't have a chance.

If all Chinese and Indians vote against them, we only need less than half of the Malay electorates to vote opposition. Even the postal votes won't change this winning probability. But for now, it is good to "spin" that this is the best chance for Umno to win.

Dr M's selective amnesia on the ISA

Kss : Reading this account fills one with revulsion and horror at the atrocities committed by the enforcement authorities. These things are still going on on a regular basis and cases like A Kugan and Teoh Beng Hock are just the tip of the iceberg.

All we hear are lies and distortions to cover up these heinous crimes from the inveterate liars like Mahathir Mohamad and the IGP. Let us hope all these people are brought to justice in the not-too-distant future and an immediate stop is put to these atrocities.

Habib Rak : Tun, you had proposed to bring George W Bush, Tony Blair and all other Iraq massacre criminals to court. In fact, they were tried without their presence in a court proceeding that you had supported.

Likewise, why don't you call for a court proceeding or a Selcat type of hearing so that your claim that you did the Operasi Lalang at the behest of the police can be scrutinised. The public would like to know the justification.

If it is true, there were merits, I'm sure you will get the support of the people. However, I only hope that if you do accede to this request, you do not feign memory loss. Please do not say "I don't recall" because you can remember the minute of details.

We don't want your performance at the VK Lingam enquiry to be repeated. I had posted this yesterday. Now that I have read what Kua Kia Soong has written, there is no doubt in my mind that Tun M is guilty as charged.
