Harvard business school to study Najibnomics
Chipmunk : Boy, we now have the best joke of the year and this can be called "Harvarnomics". Maybe we can consider a proposal to enter it into the Malaysian Book of Records as the best joke in history!
Daniel Collin Lazaroo: While there are things that our government has not done well, I think that we should not underestimate how well our country was able to recover from the global recession of 1997, as well as its relative economic stability in the current era.
I think Malaysians should take the good with the bad - when our country does do things well, why criticise and paint an ugly picture? Of course, we must not allow the government to overlook the things that they screw up on.
But when they do a good job, I say we should acknowledge it too. If the findings of this case study paint a picture where our government did indeed take good economic steps over the last 10 years, then I will indeed pat the backs of those in government that helped make it happen.
We should be fair in our assessment of our government's achievements and failures, I think.
Jefferson76 : My opinion of Harvard University just got lower. They should know better than to take claims by the government at face value, but double check the facts and the background before announcing things.
It doesn't take a Harvard economist to see that these "bold reforms" are in selected sectors that bumiputeras don't have much of a stake in anyways. Very little has changed for the average Malaysian business person.
Concerned citizen : This is a gimmick orchestrated by Najib Razak to clean up his name at the international level so that he can prolong his service as PM for another few terms.
Tan Teng Wah : Misreporting? It's not April 1 today. If this is really a joke, then the platform is wrong! This could be the work of some moron in Harvard. Does it also mean our local universities are already in the Ivy League?
Rayfire: Who exactly is going to do this study, the faculty or our JPA/Mara sponsored Masters/PhD student? Please clarify. And how much taxpayer money is involved in securing this publicity stunt? Either that or this is another institution that shares same name as the prestigious institution.
Hardtail: Be sure to include factors like the cost of corruption and cost of brain drain in the study.
BS: Harvard Business School should also undertake to learn about the PKFZ fiasco and adopt it as a case study. It's a perfect case of a rotten deal of the BN government which cost the Malaysian public a loss of 12.5 billion ringgit.
Josh : It would be interesting to know what is the result of the study. Would it uncover the shady arms deals? Would Harvard go down that route and find out more about the manner in which the banks were consolidated? What about the personal links and conflict of interests?
I am sure Harvard will do a thorough job finding out the facts before dishing out a course.
