'Jeff should apologise'

vox populi 50 x 70 big thumbnail "It goes on to show that Pakatan is made up of a different breed of people. They own up to their mistakes and would not hesitate to say sorry."

'Jeff, show us that Pakatan is of different breed'

Louis : I do support the view that Jeff Ooi should apologise to JIM. Everyone makes mistakes. This time around you might have. Apologising does not indicate your weakness. On the contrary, it makes you a better man. Only great men would admit their mistakes. You will make a world of difference if you apologise.

It goes on to show that Pakatan is made up of a different breed of people. They own up to their mistakes and would not hesitate to say sorry. BN, on the other hand never apologises. That is why they are now falling apart.

Halim : Jeff Ooi is known for his arrogance. Surely apologising is not one of his trait. But he must learn that JIM is an organisation that he cannot just trample on and nothing happens. If he wants to be a politician in multiracial and multicultural society than he has to learn humility. Insulting organisations is not as the same as insulting individuals.

Mohd Zaidi Abdullah

: Jeff Ooi should have apologised for the statement he made. His retraction of his statement is based on instruction from his boss, not out of his conscience. Jeff must remember, that most Muslim NGOs (JIM included) were involved in championing the Pakatan coalition. So if he cannot acknowledge that, then he should resign from his post.

Gk: Anything can be 'sensitive' if you want to make it 'sensitive'. Why do only certain group or people always claim sensitivity and not others? Is it reflective of some peculiar behaviour of these people? Come on, show your grace and forgive and forget. After all, Ooi has retracted the statement so 'sensitive' to you, JIM.

Chua Ying Ying

: Jeff, why don't you hold a civilised debate with them to prove your point? If they make sense, then apologise. Otherwise, let the public decide.

Watchman

: If JIM 'stands to preserve peace, uphold law and order and justice for all', they should not be so adamant at forcing Jeff Ooi to apologise and resign from his post. By doing so, they appear to be rather extremist. The 100,000 or even 1,000,000 signatures will not prove anything. Most of the signatories could either be signing blindly or could be forged. Maybe I should retract my above statements, but sorry, no apologies!

Khalid: Prove they are PAS, PKR members

Cpw: Our home minister has learned some Tai Chi. He seemed to be praticising this whenever he speaks. Always find ways and means to justify the end. Always in deflection mode. No guts to admit his mistakes or offer apologies. Big man indeed. He should stay at home and become ‘home' minister.

Freemsia : The fact that no action is taken by Hishammuddin Hussein on Umno members who were clearly involved in the protest that undermine national unity clearly shows 1Malaysia is a farce. 1Malaysia has nothing to do with releasing stamps on 1Malaysia, putting up thousand ringgit billboards, Astro advertisements, radio ads, 1Malaysia song contests.

Bottleneck:

Holy Cow! This is the holy month of Ramadan. Malaysia is on the world radar. This incident happened during the holy month of Ramadan. If the police and the protestors had just used a little bit of common sense, both the parties could have avoided this unfortunate incident.

Now we have the protestors marching to the courts to face action and a badly managed police force. All the shouting at the town hall is now history.

Dbctan: But does it matter whether these people were from PKR or Umno or PAS? I think that any party that incites or threatens harm or bloodshed deserves to face the music. There must be one rule for all, regardless of political affiliations.

'Only Umno annoyed by videos'

Doc: Obviously Umno members are not happy with the airing of the video. It does not look too good when one of their "esteemed leaders" is caught on tape talking utter rubbish and this gets aired all over the globe.

1 Meloya: This is all so Hollywood. The Three Stooges had three funnymen but Malaysia made it five. The EC, PDRM, MACC, AG and the judiciary. Now we have the latest addition in the MCMC.

Ganpearl:

Freedom of press is respected but there must be a certain degree of responsibility when it is a sensitive issue. I would say that the issue is well-documented by words and the video should be just taken out for the sake of this integrated society.

What is important in this integrated society is mutual understanding and respect especially pertaining to cultures and religions. This video will be politicised in future for the wrong reasons. The protesters are being charged for their acts, and I believe that is good enough for this issue and not to leave the video clips for viewing.
