In the aftermath of any by-election in an ethnically heterogeneous constituency, one of the first questions that people will ask is whether there was any change in the pattern of ethnic voting.

It was the case for the Bukit Gantang as well as the Bukit Selambau by-elections. Permatang Pasir is no different.
