Kedah PKR urged Lunas state assemblyman Mohd Radzhi Salleh to step down from all party posts following his announcement to quit the party.

"Party hopping has become the norm everytime there is a by-election and we are disappointed by this irresponsible act.

"This is part of Barisan Nasional's plan to manipulate issues in light of the Aug 25 by-election," said Kedah PKR leader Ahmad Kasim, in a statement last night.

mohd radzhi salleh Earlier, Mohd Radzhi Salleh, who is chairman of the Tourism, Community Development and Human Resources Committee, announced he had quit PKR to become an independent member of the Kedah legislative assembly.

He cited loss of confidence in the PKR leadership as one of the reasons why he left the party but said he would retain the post of state executive councillor as the appointment was made by the Sultan of Kedah.

He also said that he would continue to serve as an independent state assemblyman and support the federal government led by Prime Minister Najib Razak .

Stern warning for poor performance

"In the past, Mohd Radzhi has been given a stern warning for performing poorly as a leader but he failed to buck up and instead made an announcement to quit the party now," claimed Ahmad.

Among his misdeeds are:

1) making huge expenditure claims

2) facing marital problems that is pending a court hearing for marriage in Thailand

3) failing to serve his constituents

Ahmad also said that the Padang Serai division has been suspended by PKR's central leadership committee on July 26 dispelling Mohd Radzhi's claims that the division has been dissolved with his resignation.

In the recent general election, Radzhi beat MIC's S. Ananthan by a majority of 10,323 votes.
