DAP's veteran leader Lim Kit Siang lodged a police report on behalf of MCA president Ong Tee Keat at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters today over death threats on Ong.

"It is Ong who should have lodged a police report. Since he dare not do, I'm doing my public duty to lodge one on his behalf for his safety.

NONE "Whatever our political differences, I do not want to see any harm to come to Ong because of his ministerial actions, however misguided and wrong they may be," he said in a statement.

He also hoped that Ong will co-operate with the police and provide them with the facts and necessary evidence to substantiate his serious allegations about threats to his life.

In the past week, Ong said in interviews and speeches that there were forces both within Barisan Nasional and outside of it, who are out to topple him as MCA president and transport minister.

Why the drama?

Ong claimed that he was "under siege" from people with vested interests in the RM12.5 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal and that he had received death threats.

Lim said that these ‘threats' were completely unacceptable in a country that upholds the rule of law and parliamentary democracy.

yap ah loy anniversary 160407 ong tee kiat He also called on Ong to expose 100 percent of the PKFZ scandal instead of just "trifling with less than 10 percent" of what is in the PricewaterhouseCoopers audit report into the PKFZ.

He also questioned the rationale behind the joint statement by the 10 MCA ministers and deputy ministers pledging allegiance to Ong.

"Is this to create a drama of a MCA president facing a non-existent "life-and-death" leadership crisis."

He asked if this is also MCA's attempt at creating an illusion that Ong had honoured his pledge to " tell all " about the PKFZ scandal, when he has not done so.
