'Chin Peng not forgiven'

your say ‘What good is it to let Ong Boon Hua return to Sitiawan? We, Sitiawans don't want him. We may forgive him, but we have not forgotten what he had done.'

On Najib: No homecoming for Chin Peng

Malayoscontrachavez: There were many atrocities committed by the Communist Part of Malaya (CPM) against Malayan civilians, British subjects and the security forces.

All documented and factual. Try reading the book titled -‘The Malayan Emergency Revisited 1948-1960 A Pictorial History'. The attack on Bukit Kepong, Johor, on Feb 23, 1950 is a good one.

I am sure it is not a cheap and fancy story of communist atrocities for those who consider communist guerillas as heroes.

Documents and books from the British War Department archive had many accounts of CPM's atrocities.

The Malayan veterans who fought the bandits have the right not to want Ong Boon Hua to enter Malaysia. They fought him and his bandits.

They know the risks as soldiers as they have pledged their lives to defending the motherland.

The communist bandit knew they took risks when fighting a guerilla warfare against the Malayan and Commonwealth forces. Their idea of a communist state was not shared by all Malayans.

What Ong Boon Hua did in the name of communism did not sit well with Malayans then.

Terror, hardship, torture and unmerciful killings to all who opposed him are still vivid in the minds of that generation.

The wound and sufferings have not healed.

What good is it to let Ong Boon Hua return to Sitiawan when many Sitiawans were maimed, killed, and terrorised by him and his bandits? His Perak 5th CPM Regiment were hardcore bandits and goons.

We, Sitiawans don't want him. We may forgive him, but we have not forgotten what he had done.

Ong Boon Hua aka Chin Peng - Bu Yao Hui Lai. Wo Men Bu Xu Yao Ni ( Don't come back, we don't need you ).

PT Tan: Our DPM says our ex-soldiers are angry over Chin Peng. I understand, for they suffered, some maimed physically for life.

I lost a family member on May 13, 1969. Don't even know what happened to him; he just did not come home.

I am angry too and disgusted that after 40 years, I still cannot get proper answers.

At least with the communists, it was known combat for the our soldiers as they went in with their eyes wide open, fighting for a cause.

They were brave and they were good. Kudos and respect to them.

But May 13 - the innocent, not even knowing what hit them are gone while those responsible get to live to a ripe old age.

Now I am angry, very, very angry using the same yardstick that is used by the DPM.

Jycross: ‘If he (Chin Peng) is allowed to return home based on humanity, would we (justify) his killing (then)?

'Killing people is not humane. This will just make the people even angrier,' expressed Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

We are with you, YAB DPM. This is the same way Malaysians felt for the family and the children of the late Ms Altantuya.

On Ministry to get tough on errant building professionals

Maniam Sankar: Do ministers ever think before opening their mouths? Minister Subramaniam says the demolition of Jaya supermarket has not been approved by his Dosh.

If that is so, has nobody from Dosh noticed the building coming down in the past few weeks?

Were the demolition applicants told why the approval was not yet given? Especially as MBPJ had approved it.

And why should two authorities separately authorise one demolition?

If they can't answer these questions, Dosh are equally culpable. No action in the face of unfolding events is complicity, Mr Minister.

On Stadium roof collapses in Kuala T'ganu

Patrick:

As usual another hopeless minister shouting about making stringent amendments to the law to avoid such man-made tragedies from happening. It's the same thing after every tragedy.

Don't these ministers know that the best way to prevent such tragedies is for the ministries to for once employ people who really do stringent checking and monitoring?

There is no way such things could happen if strict checking was done to ensure approved structures are built according to specifications and not shortchanged on the materials used.

Oops! Sorry, too much ‘under the table money' dispensed to obtain approval etc, at all levels until contractor has to cut corners to survive.

What can you do Subramaniam besides making such statements about ‘action to be taken' and have your face appear in the newspapers.

On 'Kenneth, you do not speak for us'

Yuvan: I suppose Kenneth Eswaran just returned to Earth after spending quite a long time on some alien planet where he was totally cut-off from Earth and especially from our beloved nation, Malaysia.

Will some one please tell him about the ‘political tsunami' that happened in the March 2008 elections which saw the Indian Malaysian community ‘kicking out' the entire top leadership (except the secretary-general) of the MIC?

(By the way, please also tell him that Barrack Obama, an African American, is the new president of the US).

It is quite shocking that the president of a trade chamber is so ‘short-sighted and shallow' in his thinking and views about political developments in the country.

If he cares to understand the sentiments of the Indian community, he should stop taking sides.

As a businessman and as head of an organisation representing and promoting commerce and industry, his views must be matured, broad and clearly analytical.

He should use his business knowledge and talent to help entrepreneurs and the business community and stop trying to gain some political mileage by making some statements which are ‘way off' the current political scenario in the country.

On Samy: Gov't addressing Indian woes

Malkiat Singh Kiara: The government's decision to shift the Tamil news slot over RTM to 6pm instead of the present time slot of 7.30pm is meaningless as most of us will certainly miss it.

If the government is sincere in wanting the Indian community to keep abreast with the latest in the national and world scenes, then it should reconsider its drastic decision.

Otherwise, I suggest that the minister concerned just forget about airing any Tamil news. I don't know what his intentions are.

Is this old minister trying to prove his two cents worth to the new prime minister for retaining him in the cabinet?

We are fed-up with the government's rhetoric of wanting to help the Indian community. Nothing concrete has happened. Don't tell us we have to be patient.

We have been waiting patiently for the last 50 years and now we are being told to be more patient? Looks like the Najib administration is not walking the talk.

If it can't even allow a suitable air-time for the community, how else can we expect the government to resolve a lot more important issues concerning the Indians?

I, for one, will certainly look towards PR at the next elections.

On When gov't scholarships are mismanaged

CR: With reference to the above letter, the writer, from my view, has never set foot in Moscow. To be eligible to study in MMA, you must really do well in your foundation studies.

Then you are guaranteed a place in MMA as all universities in the world do. MMA has the best facilities in Moscow compared to RSMU.

Yes, the lecture rooms are all spread over Moscow. That is the deal if you want to study in MMA. It is the second best in both the Russian and English medium.

It is utter nonsense to say that their classrooms are like ‘kampung' classrooms. Have you really set foot into their classrooms?

Talking about their standard of education, how can they be second best if the standard is as low as claimed by the writer?

Has he checked their expulsion list for every year? As for copying during exams, do you think it is so easy to do?

If that's the case, then I should take medicine immediately so that I can get through easily.

I have feeling the writers must have been expelled from MMA or couldn't cope with the studies.

For your information, JPA never sends students to Russia as claimed. You can check with JPA.

And about culture, we don't have a ‘Malaysian culture'. Its up to the individuals. Don't be a case of ‘sour grapes'.
